We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley McCurdy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, what do you want your legacy to be?
I would hope that when people remember me, that my legacy of hard work would leave a lasting memory on people. I would hope it would inspire others to do the same. I want people to remember me as a risk taker, a go getter, a hard worker, a person who never says no to a good opportunity to grow. A person who goes all in and never looks back. A person who tells someone they’re going to do it, and does it 120%. A person people can trust and never second guess it. It’s a legacy I hope to leave to everyone I know, those that buy from me but have never actually met me, and of course the biggest legacy to my own daughter, Ali.

Among all of that though, I hope people remember how much I value people and I hope it shines through. My customers know, because I tell them often, that they are nothing short of my own family and I know that without a doubt, they would know that to be true.

What should our readers know about your business?
Being a business owner is 100% what you put into it and how you treat people. I consider the process of getting to where I am today to be a major blessing in my life, but without a doubt it is because of my connections with people, how I treat people, and growing myself. Being a business owner, especially through COVID and everything going on right now, is NOT easy, but I have to remind myself…. is it ever really meant to be?

Being a business owner isn’t for the weak. You have to have a fire for loving others, loving what you do, and being okay promoting that 24/7. You have to be okay taking risks, spending a lot of your own money, and at the end of some days feeling like you accomplished nothing. But, you have to remember that being challenged makes you grow. I have been challenged everyday as a business owner, but I have grown immensely.

I want people to know that even during owning a business I was a full time teacher, coach, masters student becoming assistant principal, aspiring mom. I don’t want them to know that about me to feel bad for me or pity me. I want them to know that about me so that others know it is 100% doable! I want other educators, mamas, wives, to be inspired by me and my story because your opportunities are endless. Only you stand in your way!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would start with brunch at Glorias because who doesn’t love mimosas and mexican food. Followed by lunch at HG Supply Co. because a good view and a cold beer is amazing in DFW in this heat. Continued by a stay at the Omni in Frisco at The Star where we can enjoy the pool and beverages overlooking The Star Field. Ending the day with dinner at the star and drinks at The Cowboy Rooftop Bar. It is sure to be a good time!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
100% my husband. Without, Alec McCurdy, all of my efforts in this business would not be possible. Back in 2017 when we were newly married, I was coaching and teaching, working on my masters degree, and went to him and told him I wanted to sell LuLaRoe Clothing he was so confused. I told him I wanted to go for it, presented him with the logistics, and he never stopped me. Better yet, he encouraged me and supported me and even helped me with every live sale I did while driving over 3 hours a day to get to and from his own job.

Then, in 2018 when I told him I wanted to leave LuLaRoe and start my own boutique, he again never questioned me. He knew I could do it and never doubted me. That to me, is a true love like none other. I owe so much of my success to him, his time, his encouragement, and his help. I can never repay him.
