We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My Thought Process Behind Starting LoveJones EXTRAordinary Events

I began my event planning career while in both undergraduate and graduate school. Although I studied Education and currently serve as a Dean of Students in a DFW school district, I could never ignore the tug at my heartstrings for event planning.

While completing my graduate and principal certification programs, I found myself constantly drawn to planning events—birthday parties, baby showers, church programs, sorority celebrations, and more—all in my so-called “spare” time. What started as a creative outlet quickly became a true passion.

After many years of encouragement from my sorority sisters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., as well as my friends and family, I decided to take a leap of faith and officially launch LoveJones EXTRAordinary Events.

This business was built from a place of genuine love for creating experiences that leave lasting memories. Over time, I realized that this wasn’t just something I enjoyed—it was something I was meant to do. I wanted to build something that reflected my creativity, attention to detail, and love for bringing people together. Starting my own business allowed me the freedom to design unique experiences and serve clients in a more personal, meaningful way. Every event I plan is an opportunity to celebrate life, connection, and joy—because I believe every moment deserves to be EXTRAordinary!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Professionally, I serve as a District Dean of Students in a DFW school district. In this role, I support campus administration teams by helping address and manage severe student behaviors. I create individualized behavior plans, develop behavior trackers, and coach teachers on strategies to help students grow and thrive behaviorally and academically. I also monitor student progress to ensure success and long-term development.

I reached this stage in my career by staying focused, driven, and learning how to weather the storms that come with leadership. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Jarvis Christian University, a Master’s in Education, Curriculum & Instruction from Texas A&M University-Texarkana, and my Principal Administration Certification from Lamar University.

It was not an easy journey—there were challenges, sacrifices, and moments of doubt. But I overcame them by keeping faith, maintaining a “failure is not an option” mindset, and trusting that God was guiding my path every step of the way.

What I’ve learned along the way is that every challenge builds character, every lesson shapes purpose, and perseverance truly pays off.

Interestingly, my career in educational administration aligns perfectly with LoveJones EXTRAordinary Events. The same skills that make me effective as a Dean—organization, attention to detail, problem-solving, and strong communication—are the very foundation of my brand. Both roles allow me to pour into others, bring structure to vision, and help people achieve positive outcomes, whether in the classroom or at life’s most memorable celebrations.

What I want the world to know about LoveJones EXTRAordinary Events is that it’s built on passion, excellence, and heart. Every event is designed with care, creativity, and intention—because I believe every experience should be as extraordinary as the people we’re celebrating

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A Week in DFW — LoveJones Style

If my best friend came to visit DFW, I’d make sure they experienced the perfect mix of relaxation, fun, and good vibes — LoveJones style!

We’d kick off the week with massages and a visit to WorldSprings for the ultimate relaxation and reset. There’s nothing like soaking, unwinding, and starting the week completely refreshed!

Then, of course, a little retail therapy is in order — shopping for makeup, perfume, clothes, and home décor because we love a good shopping moment that feeds the soul and the closet.

No self-care routine is complete without a trip to the nail shop, where we’d catch up, laugh, and enjoy a little pampering.

Throughout the week, we’d dive into DFW’s vibrant food and entertainment scene. For brunch, I’d take them to some of my faves — Icon, GVO, Brew City, and Southern Gourmet — because brunch is definitely a lifestyle.

When the sun goes down, we’d keep the fun flowing with karaoke nights, open mics, and maybe a hidden speakeasy or two for that chill, grown-and-sexy vibe. We’d also make sure to hit up a few R&B lounges and live music spots, soaking in the soulful energy that makes DFW unforgettable.

By the end of the week, my bestie would see exactly why I love where I live — the people, the culture, the rhythm, and the way every moment feels EXTRAordinary!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Who Deserves Credit in My Story

No dream is built alone, and LoveJones EXTRAordinary Events is no exception.

First and foremost, I have to thank my mother, Debra Davis, for being the foundation of my event planning journey. From all the church programs and events we organized together early on, she planted the seed for what would later grow into my passion and purpose.

To my sorority sisters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., thank you for constantly reminding me of my gifts—my organization, my attention to detail, and my ability to make everyone feel special. Your words of affirmation gave me the courage to step fully into my calling.

To my best friends and sisters—Dawn Dalcour, Latisha Ingram, T-onna Bolden, and Yolanda Tarver—your constant encouragement, prayers, and love keep me going, especially when my tank runs low. You’ve believed in me even on the days I questioned myself.

And finally, to every client, vendor, and supporter who has attended an event, booked LoveJones EOE, or simply shared kind words—thank you. Each of you has played a part in building this vision. Your trust fuels my passion, and together we continue to make every moment truly EXTRAordinary!
