We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Bryer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal in my small business is to reach a wider audience and grow into a bigger business. I would love a storefront brick and mortar shop someday! It’s really exciting when I imagine what it could be like as I grow.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Starting my business at home was exciting and extremely scary at times. Learning how to navigate a small business can be hard to know where to start. I battled with time management, pricing my goods, and delivery. I think at times I felt like I should give up when I would fail. Luckily, I had such a strong support team of family and friends to give me words of encouragement in trying times. Once I got over my fears and worries I started to imagine ways to help me hone my skills so I took various courses online and in person to build my confidence! You can always learn something knew and with each class I grew into building up my skills with confidence.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love this question! I am a big fan of dancing and live music so I would probably start of the evening in bishop arts district and go to Revelers hall to listen to live jazz, then have dinner there and maybe after we would go dancing at Sons of Herman Hall. A great swing dancing place with lessons as well.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout-out to my family. They always supported me along my journey. When I was younger, my dad built me a cupcake/lemonade stand after I sketched up an idea one day. That was so thrilling as a kid to sell my baked goods on the street corner with my friend Addie Baker. I would say it sparked my interest in baking and pursuing it more each day after!
