We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My main goal was to be able to help black women with their journey to motherhood and giving them support throughout motherhood.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey to creating my own business for black women came about because of my own life experiences. I was first diagnosed with infertility at 20 years old and I’ve been on quite the journey to motherhood. Along the way I’ve learned so much and went through a lot on my own. And I wanted to change that narrative for other women of color and provide the support and education that I didn’t have while navigating through infertility and into motherhood.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a foodie. I love trying different restaurants, especially cultural restaurants.
When it comes to fun, there’s nothing Dallas doesn’t have. From being a big kid, to enjoying art at the museum and heading across the street for some food off the food trucks and live music at the park. I love to be adventurous and explore all the city has to offer.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m grateful for the love and support of my husband, Herbert Brown, as I am on this journey of creating my first business.
