We had the good fortune of connecting with Asad Asad and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Asad, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
In late March 2022, I was with my wife on our first year anniversary trip in Dubai. She is a Moroccan Citizen and we are still waiting on her to arrive to the United States. In the meantime I visit her in Morocco or sometimes take a trip elsewhere. My wife, Salwa asked me what I was going to do, I told her either way my back is the wall I might as well start my own company. She told me to go for it and she knows I can do it. Her support was a huge help and getting started from nothing.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I rely heavy on word of mouth to keep all our crews busy throughout the year. I really had to try out a few different crews in different trades to find the crews that not only took pride in their work, but also to see if we clicked and shared enough chemistry to work together long term. I have met a lot of talented workers in every trade, however sometimes our visions our different and that is okay. I always wish everyone the best and want everyone to be successful in their businesses and careers. I learned you cannot form long term relationships with everyone, but you can still respect and be respected by everyone it all comes down to demeanor. It was not easy as most of my experience in my career is in flooring. I started in the flooring industry (sales) in 2012. Remodeling I learned through some hard lessons is a lot different. There are more moving pieces, different crews and trades to manage, and different vendors to order different products from, Along with supply chain issues still effecting us from COVID, I had to learn that organization, time management, and clarity with all the different people involved (contactors, customers, vendors, and I) is key to any construction/remodeling company becoming and staying successful. I would love the world to know that anyone can start a business from almost zero and earn themselves not just financial freedom, but also the work-life balance most people are looking for, At the beginning you will have to sacrifice time with friends, family, and some leisure time. Just remember just like money, you can invest time and expect a decent return on investment for your time in the near future if you work hard and smart enough.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them to see as many sports teams as possible as we have one for every major sport in the US. I would spend a day at Six flags, one of the best amusement parks ever. Treat our selves to a spa-day at the a fancy spa like the one at the Ritz Carlton. Lower Greenville in Dallas, the Oaklawn area, and the bishop arts district all have awesome restaurants and bars to check out. Of course, you cannot forget the Malls (NorthPark, Galleria, Firewheel, Stonebriar) just to name only a few of the amazing shopping experiences you can have in DFW. Last but not least, 7th street in Fort Worth for a couple of nights. Great area to go experience a beautiful nightlife.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to Thank God first. Though I did start my business from nothing, it was easier for me than others in my opinion because I was blessed with the opportunity to build all the connections I needed and get enough knowledge under my belt to feel confident enough to go right into it. My wife deserves a big shout out because even from five thousands miles away, I felt like she was right next to me helping me fight every battle that came in my way. I also need to give a big shout out to who is basically my partner Mario and his crew of hard workers. I would also like to give a huge shoutout to all the contractors in every trade that helped me this year. It takes a lot of time, skill, and dedication to create a product you are proud of. All my painters, cabinet installers, granite installers, flooring installers, carpet installers, and other craftsmen are not only great workers but great people. I am blessed to have met them and build these relationships over the years. My friends were also a huge support. Even a lot of my old customers started referring me to their friends and family. I am overall thankful I had a great support system to help me
