Meet Ariel Ellzey | Creator of Miracle Malcolm!

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Ellzey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my business was deeply personal and rooted in purpose. When my son Malcolm was born prematurely and spent time in the NICU, it was one of the most challenging seasons of my life. But in that vulnerable space, God planted something powerful in my heart—a vision to turn that pain into purpose. I didn’t want our story to be something we just survived; I wanted it to become something that inspired and uplifted others. That’s how Miracle Malcolm was born—not just as a children’s book, but as a movement to remind families that even the smallest lives have the biggest impact. I wanted to create something meaningful that spread awareness about premature births, spoke life over children, and declared boldly that we are all fearfully and wonderfully made.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is storytelling—but not just through words on a page. It’s the heart behind every illustration, every message, every product that’s tied to Miracle Malcolm. What sets me apart is that this brand was born out of real pain and real faith. It’s not just a business—it’s a testimony. I’m telling stories that speak hope into hospital rooms, faith into families, and identity into children who need to know they are seen and deeply loved.
I’m most proud of the impact. Seeing parents cry because they finally feel understood. Watching children light up when they see a character that looks like them and carries a message of purpose. That’s what excites me—knowing that something God placed in my heart is reaching others in such a meaningful way.
Getting here wasn’t easy. I didn’t have a roadmap or a big team behind me—I just had a vision, and a deep belief that it mattered. There were moments of doubt, rejection, and delays. But I kept showing up, praying through it, and trusting that if God gave me the vision, He’d make a way. And He has.
The biggest lessons I’ve learned are to keep going even when it’s quiet, and to never despise small beginnings. Every ‘no’ led to a greater ‘yes.’ Every challenge built my character.
What I want the world to know is that Miracle Malcolm isn’t just a brand—it’s a reminder that your story matters, your child matters, and that beauty can rise from brokenness. We are fearfully and wonderfully made, and no obstacle is too great for the purpose God has for your

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit Dallas for a week, I’d make sure they left with full hearts, full stomachs, and the best memories! Here’s how I’d plan the perfect 7-day Dallas experience:
Day 1: Welcome & Wind Down
We’d start with brunch at The Henry or Bread Winners Café—two of my favorite spots for great food and good vibes. After that, we’d check into a cute boutique hotel like The Joule downtown, grab smoothies from Nekter, and catch a sunset walk around White Rock Lake or the Dallas Arboretum for a peaceful start.
Day 2: Culture & Creativity
We’d dive into local art and culture at the Dallas Museum of Art or the African American Museum in Fair Park. Then we’d head to Deep Ellum to explore the street murals and grab lunch at Pecan Lodge—because no visit to Dallas is complete without some of the best BBQ in the state!
Day 3: Faith & Reflection
This would be our soul-care day. We’d start with coffee and journaling at La La Land Kind Café, then visit The Potter’s House or another local church for a midweek recharge. That night, we’d have dinner with a view at Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck in Reunion Tower and talk about life, dreams, and God’s goodness.
Day 4: Fun & Photos
We’d dress up and hit Legacy West in Plano or Bishop Arts District for cute shops, photo ops, and great eats. Then maybe do something fun and spontaneous—like an escape room, a live show at Dallas Comedy House, or even axe throwing just for laughs!
Day 5: Dallas Foodie Tour
This day would be all about discovering new flavors! Brunch at Yolk, tacos at Velvet Taco, sweet treats at Cookie Society, and dinner at True Kitchen + Kocktails—because the vibes are unmatched. We’d hit a rooftop lounge like Sky Blossom or Catbird to end the night.
Day 6: Family & Community Vibes
We’d spend Saturday at Klyde Warren Park—food trucks, live music, and family fun. Then head over to Trinity Groves for dinner and take in views of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. I’d also introduce them to a few incredible local entrepreneurs and creatives who are doing inspiring work in the community.
Day 7: Rest & Reflect
Our last day would be slow and intentional. A spa treatment or mani/pedi at Hiatus Spa, a final brunch at Sixty Vines, and a cozy chat before I send them off with a Miracle Malcolm gift bag filled with love, faith, and local goodies.
Dallas is such a vibrant mix of culture, creativity, faith, and flavor—and I’d want my best friend to experience every bit of it. It’s more than just places—it’s the people, the energy, and the purpose behind the moments that make it unforgettable.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! First & foremost, God for allowing me to have the creative ability to write & express myself in this form. Also, my Miracle himself, Malcolm – who my brand is inspired by. He truly gave life a new meaning & perspective. Also, my family & husband who allow me to feel seen creatively, embraced, & loved throughout it all.
