We had the good fortune of connecting with April Snyder and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi April, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Being a business owner and a single parent for over half my life has often made me view myself as a “hologram.” As an entrepreneur, you are truly the only one you can consistently lean on. This analogy comes to mind because it often feels like an imaginary version of myself is standing behind me, ready to catch me if I fall.

This cycle of rinse and repeat is incredibly rewarding, especially with the daily small victories that accumulate into successes. For me, success isn’t about immense wealth, although financial security is certainly a goal we all share. Rather, success is defined by tackling the daily goals on my “shot list” and having the grit to see them through.

While I occasionally desire a bigger or better something, those things only offer temporary satisfaction. It’s the accumulation of tiny victories that continuously fuels more successes and builds the intrinsic motivation that I believe everyone should be proud of.

Ultimately, success for me is about navigating our daily goals, overcoming challenges, and embracing life. When we keep moving forward, we truly can achieve everlasting successes.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My professional journey began at a young age of 7, selling bagged fruit and nuts from my grandparents’ trees. I sold pecans in the fall and winter, and plums and peaches in the summer. Growing up in apartments, I wasn’t shy about knocking on neighbors’ doors, which gave me an early understanding of supply and demand.

My passion for hair styling started when I successfully braided my own hair on my first try. Despite doing well in school with mostly A’s and coming from an educated family, they encouraged my natural talent for hair. In 11th grade, I enrolled in a Cosmetology course, graduating with my license. I began my career at Supercuts, which, despite its reputation, provided excellent haircutting training. This experience helped me build a substantial clientele, leading me to a full-service salon where I learned color and highlighting techniques. I was the top producer there for three years. After a raise request was denied, I decided to open my own salon.

Around my 24th year in the hair industry, I began planning my retirement career. Knowing I’d always want to work and having completed a 200-hour Yoga Certification in 2016, I decided to combine my passions. My partner challenged me to differentiate my yoga studio, leading to the creation of POSE.

POSE integrates fitness, wellness, and beauty. We offer yoga and mat Pilates classes, as well as a Blow Dry Bar designed to boost confidence. We have two facilities: one that offers both amenities, and another dedicated solely to yoga. Our aim is to provide a unique experience where you can pair your hair care with your workout routine.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I had so much fun thinking about what I’d do with my bestie in the city of Dallas! Here are some of my favorite spots:

I’d definitely take her to the Bishop Arts area. It’s a mature part of town with huge trees and beautiful mid century modern homes This par of town has an artsy yet refined vibe, and it’s also very close to where I raised my daughter. We could enjoy live music, good food, and dancing.

Next day, we’d head to NorthPark Mall after a nice brunch spot. This mall has transformed throughout my life, and I’ve always known it was special, even before I learned it was ranked the 12th best mall in the nation! My family always valued quality over quantity; so even though we didn’t live nearby, it was always worth the trip and felt like the epitome of class.

To finish our day, we could have dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in the North Dallas area, which is conveniently located near my home.

I’d love to take her to a park, but she gets hot easily, so we’d probably opt for a museum day instead.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I appreciate my partner’s support in developing POSE. He played a crucial role in helping me organize my thoughts on how POSE could differentiate itself from other fitness, wellness, and beauty facilities.

His encouragement over the years has been invaluable in helping me work towards my goals. His immense support and similar entrepreneurial spirit have truly been instrumental in achieving my goals.
