We had the good fortune of connecting with April Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi April, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
People. I’m inspired by people, music, and the world around us. I genuinely love to see others operate in their craft and God given abilities. From the local coffee shop owner, to the musician, gardener and custodian: every one plays a string in this massive orchestra called life. And it’s absolutely breathtaking taking. So far beyond my natural abilities. I often sit, pray and meditate on the things around me to draw inspiration for my next project. I’m so thankful for the gifts that God has given me to create new things.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m the owner of ICE LLC. Inspired Creations and Events (an event planning & design company). I’m also an educator. I hold 2 associates degrees, a bachelor’s and a master’s degree, and I currently serve on the leadership team on my campus. In addition to event design, I currently teach balloon training courses, and I host premier business mixers. At the balloon training courses, I teach others how to start profitable luxury balloon businesses. At the mixers: I bring in successful business owners; as well those just starting out or aspiring business owners. These mixers are designed to bring our communities together and give all of us an opportunity to network, grow, support, and learn from each other. Just in the last 6 months, Inspired Creations and Events has had the privilege of collaborating with WIC, NET Health, UT Health, March of Dimes, Zales Jewelry; The City of Tyler & The Lady Organization on various conferences, fashion shows, and events. I’m also a published author, and motivational speaker.
We just recently received a bid award for the Region 7 education Service Center. That means that we are officially an approved vendor and can now contract with almost 100 schools and entities in that cooperative.
What sets me apart is my love for bringing people together, the love for genuinely serving others, and seeing people from all walks of life grow, learn, and become successful. I believe that faith, prayer, and consistency is key to success.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
On Monday: we definitely could not miss Azwalf Hazworf & the Love Session Band live at the Freeman’s Cafe deep ellum. Got to get up early on Tuesday to catch brunch at the Biscuit Bar on the board walk in Plano. What a way to end hump day with a sunset cruise on lake Rockwall. For Thursday we have to make sure that we explore all of the exhibits At Ripley’s Believe it or not with an emphasis on the wax museum! Let’s have some Friday fun at the Sugar Factory. Our week would not be complete without a little dinner and dancing at Vidorra Dallas. And of course Sunday worship in Dallas is always lit!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would also to give a shout out to my parents who have supported me in every step of my Journey. You guys are amazing! I want to thank my family, friends & clients that are always rooting me on. Thank you to my amazing ICE team. They put up with all of my crazy over the top ideas & still manage to execute with a smile while bringing the vision to life. Thank you VT for adding me to the event design community group. That was the catalyst for our current success.
