We had the good fortune of connecting with Apollo Mcknight and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Apollo, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe that taking risks is an inherent part of growing as a person and learning what you can handle and what you’re capable of. I think that it’s important to understand that everything you do is risky for example from waking up, to driving your car, or even moving to a new job. There is nothing in this world I feel that doesn’t come without some amount of inherent risk. With that being said, I feel it’s important to take calculated risks and come to understand everything that goes into the risk and attempting to mitigate it then acting upon what you calculate to be the best steps to move forward in your career or personal life, and to continue to move forward in that aspect. Risk has had a big part of my life with that understanding by already having goals and ideas in motion to accept a particular amount of risk that allows me to you grow financially independent. If you never take on risk, you will always stay in the same spot and never move on to achieve anything great, because all great things come with risk.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Growing up it was definitely having to try to figure out what I want to do in life. A lot of that boiled down to exercising what I feel like I’m really good at. A lot of that had to do with getting whatever job I needed to get by at the time. At first it was making pizzas over at local pizza joint. I quickly became good at that with becoming a leader and running the team. Within six months of working long tedious hours I was moved up to general manager. Using my resume from that experience I was able to move on to managing a full service cafe, then onto managing one of the largest sports bar companies in the country. All of that starting at age 20 all the way up to now being 23. I feel like what sets me apart is that I move quick I really like to get to the top of my game as quickly as possible with just trying to be a leader in whatever space I’m working in. I got caught into influencing unconventionally I never really planned on doing something like that, but always wanted to. So on the side my wife and I began looking at social media as an outlet while she was recovering from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma cancer. In order to do that she used her prior marketing experience to make the right connections it also helps that she is a very social person that is good with people. She also learned a lot about how to use the algorithms our favor and I mean it when I say I couldn’t do it without her and wouldn’t be where I am today. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is don’t be afraid to take those risks, and don’t be afraid to talk to everyone in the party. Nothing comes for free it all takes hard work. You have to decide how much effort you’re willing to give and how much time you’re willing to put aside for what you want. It’s important to apply yourself never forget what you want out of life and continue to push towards it. People will always doubt you in the beginning, you’re always seen as crazy until it works so don’t give up.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
With influencing I always go to the coolest places around Dallas whether it be for art, food, entertainment, or music I always have go to spots. For a great night out I would probably have to go with Saint Rocco’s located at Trinity Groves. From its spectacular table side pasta made in a cheese wheel right in front of you, to its upstairs bar with views of all of Dallas it’s perfect for any occasion. As an entertainment favorite Electric Shuffle located in Deep Ellum is the place to be. Electric Shuffle is a shuffle board experience like you’ve never had from being created by a NASA scientist, to delicious bar food, and hand craft cocktails it’s something everyone should try.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I believe that the person that you chose to be your partner should be someone that builds with you. Not someone that brings you down, not someone that hinders your ideas or puts you down in any way. That being said I would have to dedicate my shout out and my successes to my beautiful wife Isabelle McKnight. She has been instrumental in pushing me to be a better person and helping me through my creative outlets. We are always pushing each other to reach the next step and find growth. I’ve become a better person overall with her I’m positive that my creative outlet wouldn’t be where it is without her and I wouldn’t be where at this point in my life either.
