We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Houston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly, we were just trying to teach our kids the ways and value of entrepreneurship. Showing them the idea of owning something that’s completely yours from conception to birth. We want them to get an understanding of developing the idea, building the plan and execution. And just as important to the business itself, we involve them in every way, to ensure they understand the value of every dollar made. It truly was about building something with our family as a whole

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Tony Johns is a “Black” family owned and operated company, specializing in custom print designs. From throwbacks to customs, to branded designs, and celebratory items, we offer anything you can think that celebrates You. What sets us apart is that we focus on the individual, with every product we provide, to ensure their order represents their past, present, or future! Though we’ve only been in business a short time, our success can be attributed to great community support, a unified focus, and trust in the Almighty God. Everything we do has to be led by Him, or “We Not Doin’ It,” lol!. We speak it into existence and then let God be God. This has not been easy. There have been opportunities and victories, and we treat them both the same….learn from them, and then build upon them. Success comes, when you Just Keep Going! We’ve learned that every day is not going to be a win, but on No Day, do you turn around and go backwards. Always looking forward to the next opportunity, the next customer, the next idea….that just might be the Best One Yet!!! We want everyone to know, that we are working not just to serve you with business, but to love you with our every effort in your design.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well….upon arrival we would head home to Red Oak, TX, and throw some good ole’ Texas BBQ on the grill, inviting all of our friends and family. For us the party is always at the house with our close friends and family. Over the next couple of days we would do some sight seeing and sight doing at the Reunion Tower, The Harbor at Rockwall, Shopping at Firewheel Mall, and touring the ATT Stadium and The Star in Frisco. If its in the fall, we must not miss the opportunity to take them to the State Fair of Texas, for all the good eats and maybe stop by Klyde Warren Park, just to behold it’s beauty. For food we’d want to stop by Crazy Brothers in the Grove for some Fried Catfish and Pork Chops, and then find a local Snow Cone spot. For shopping, its all about the malls for us, so that we get everything in one place (we get tired very quick). Galleria and North Park are a must, along with some local mom and pop shops in Oak Cliff. Now, we are sort of low key when it comes to the night life and tend to find our selves home having a good time with each other and the kids. Most of our friends have children too, so its usually cheaper that way for us all, lol. But yeah, that sounds like good fun to us.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our kids Nikki, Trinyti & AJ. The credit definitely belongs to them. I meaaaaan, they challenge, inspire, and urge us daily to be the best version of ourselves in everything we do. They keep us on our toes, reminding us regularly of the goals and mantras that we have instilled in them. The hold us accountable to our word, and that absolutely keeps us from ever giving up. You want to talk inspiration…Children are the best kind!!! We grow deeper in love with them every day.
