We had the good fortune of connecting with Anne-Marie Dumas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anne-Marie, why did you pursue a creative career?
I always had an interest in fashion and photography, when I was at university I went out of my way to pursue classes in the fashion department and participate in campus fashion shows. As my degree led me to a career in the corporate world, I was always looking for a creative outlet. Deep down I am a creative at heart. I had been following fashion bloggers for a while and what better way to combine my two passions of fashion and photography. I also didn’t see a lot of women looking like me in the fashion blogging industry at the time and wanted to change that. Now I blog about more than just fashion, including lifestyle, travel and more. Having an artistic pursuit keeps me motivated, happy and fulfilled.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a fashion blogger originally from the Midwest (Chicago) and having recently moved to the DFW area I am looking forward to exploring it. I am most proud of building my brand from the ground up, earning an audience and being able to collaborate with a variety of brands and organizations. Content creation is a real job, and a rewarding one. Trying to stand out in a crowded social media landscape and make your mark. I encourage anyone and everyone, if they have a certain pursuit or artistic endeavor that they want to pursue, to go for it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am new to Dallas so I am still exploring, but I enjoy the Bishop Arts area, walking along the main street and visiting all the shops, cafes and restaurants is a lot of fun. One thing to try is a Dallas steakhouse, I recommend Perrry’s.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my friends, family and loved ones for their never-ending support in my endeavors. I couldn’t do it without them!
