We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Wardlaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Birth work is a calling—truly. I hear stories from other birth workers and how they got into this divine space of childbirth. I can state confidently that almost every birth worker I have spoken to about their industry has either heard from God or felt a deep sense of calling to this sacred space—childbirth.

Our passion as birth workers is not to take blood pressure and count the frequency of contractions, nor is it to sit back and watch a mom labor fervently. Our passion is simply to hold space for women—to champion women who are becoming mothers.

My vision for my doula business, Beloved Birth Services, is to be with women—to walk hand in hand with them on their journey of motherhood and to hold space for them in their birth—for them to be heard and deeply supported in this holy moment of their lives.

*What I define as birth work is a person who supports women through the process of childbirth—whether that be a doula, midwife, OB-GYN, birth keeper—you name it!*

What should our readers know about your business?
At Beloved Birth Services, my vision is to equip women for childbirth—to ensure they are advocated for, receive heartfelt, personalized care throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, and feel truly empowered by their birth experience!

We put this into practice by meeting multiple times during pregnancy. These prenatal visits allow us to build a relationship, discuss how to maintain a healthy pregnancy, and prepare for childbirth and postpartum. During labor and birth, my role is to provide continuous support and comfort. If you’re looking for someone to support and inform you through the birthing process, I’m your gal! My services include hands-on support, emotional support, and educational guidance in all capacities. We then close this chapter together with a final postpartum visit 1–2 weeks after birth, where we process your birth experience, provide breastfeeding support, and, of course, snuggle your sweet baby.

I am excited to say that my business is slowly but surely growing! Though still small, my goal is to pursue birth work full-time (through doula services) to help supplement the cost of my schooling as I train to become a midwife. I am happily accepting doula clients year-round for those seeking personalized support through pregnancy and childbirth!

Along the way, I’ve learned that every birth is unique. I’ve come to understand that doula work is not just a job—it is a deep honor. To those who have invited me into your birth space, I cherish each of your birth stories and hold them dear to my heart. Thank you for allowing me to witness the miracle that took place through you.

The goal of Beloved Birth Services is to point each birth and life back to our Creator, the Lord—that every mother and family may encounter His love and know who they are as His beloved. All glory, honor, and praise be unto Him!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It is only through the faithfulness of the Lord that I am privileged to work alongside women as they bring new life into the world. It has always been a dream of mine to play a role, even a small one, in helping women give birth. The Lord has opened every door, starting when I was just 17, to begin my journey as a birth worker—working alongside women in childbirth!

I also want to proudly shout out my amazing, powerhouse of a mom, who gave birth to 10 children—all unmedicated. She has been my greatest inspiration and the reason I was drawn to pregnancy and childbirth at such a young age. My whole life, I had a firsthand example of the wonder of childbirth just by watching her!

And, of course, a huge shoutout to my amazing husband for calling me higher as a follower of Jesus and teaching me to press on during difficult times. My husband is truly my rock.
