We had the good fortune of connecting with Anika Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anika, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Thee Perfect Collection T-Shirt business started in September of 2018 in my kitchen. One day I was asked to find two baby onesies with the word Dallas on them for my husband’s cousin. One was supposed to be pink and the other one was supposed to be blue. After searching for about a week, I could not find the exact items. At this point, my mind started going 100 miles per hour and I came up with the solution that I was going to watch several YouTube videos and make them myself. Let me say this, I made those two onesies and the rest was history. I thought I was a professional after that and started the business.

One of my close friends immediately believed in me and ordered 10 birthday shirts for the crew. Keep in mind, this was before all of my equipment arrived. She had a lot of faith in me because we did not know how the shirts would turn out.

I would have to say I had so many people supporting me and from there the business blew up. I made $1000.00 the first week in business and from that point, I knew it was time to perfect my craft and take my business serious.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I consider myself a craft artist. As previously stated, I started my t-shirt business in 2018 and have been going strong ever since then. I believe the key thing that sets me apart from others is my passion to make every shirt perfect which is why I named my business Thee Perfect Collection. I hand craft every shirt sold. I give my customers exactly what they ask for each time. I never have the issue “ what I ask for Vs what I got”. I am super excited about growing my business and offering more services and products for my customers.

I got where I am today by staying consistent and passionate about my craft. I always look for ways to enhance my craft to be a better business owner to my customers. No, it wasn’t easy but it has been definitely worth it. I overcame so many challenges by taking constructive criticism and changing in areas that needed improvement. I’ve learned that I am in control of all outcomes when it come to my business and it’s up to me to keep pushing forward in a positive direction. I do understand that some things are out of our control but it’s in our control how we respond and move forward.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am originally from Memphis, TN and to this day, I still have not fully explored Dallas, although I would love too. I would definitely take my best friend Spa Castle to relax and have a few drinks. That’s how we must start and end the itinerary. I am a fan of watching movies so we would definitely have to take a trip to a luxury theater called Cinepolis.

I love to ride horses and bowl- so both of those would be added to the list. Main Event is a great place to bowl because they offer food and bomb drinks. What’s bowling without a nice drink.

There are a ton of great food places to visit in Dallas and surrounding areas that are a vibe. I love Happiest Hour located downtown Dallas and a good soul food restaurant.

There are also a couple of candle making spots and that’s a must do as well. That pretty much sums up a week out in Dallas with my bestie.

………….and staying home and binge watching Netflix or Hulu is a must..

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family hands down have been my #1 supporters. I know the saying, “it’s strangers who will support you before your own family.” I would have to say it’s the complete opposite for me. My husband and kids physically help me with orders. My grandparents and parents Financial support when they can, along with my paternal uncle. They keep me going even when I feel like giving up. My family and friends order t-shirts on a rotating basis. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my family and friends. They definitely encourage me to keep God 1st and never give up!
