We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelique Watson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angelique, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My work life balance has changed significantly over the past year! During the summer of 2019 I moved to the metroplex to begin my career as a Software Engineer. Fast forward almost 2.5 years later not only am I still an engineer but now I am also an MBA Candidate and a business owner! You can imagine my weeks and weekends are pretty busy.

When I think of balance I think of an “equal” split of time for self and time for others or other activities.

However, I can definitely admit finding the right balance at first can be a little tough. I do make good use of planners, notebooks and calendar apps to help me stay organized with work, school and clients. As my schedule has gotten busier I’ve found it a bit more manageable to balance those three things. Ironically, the biggest thing I’m learning now is how to find time for myself in the midst of everything going on around me. For me that looks like rest, journaling, self care or spending time with loved ones.

I realized quickly that if I am not 100% it is difficult to give 100%.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started Your Eventor officially July 2021 so it is still very new and fresh! We are a full service event styling company that specializes in decor and styling services for intimate events. I have always had a passion for decorating and event coordinating and I finally decided to take the leap of faith to put my creativity out there to share with others!

The first thing that I’m truly proud of is getting over 85k views on one of our event set ups on TikTok! This felt like a major accomplishment to me because I was fairly new to the platform and because it brought us a lot of early exposure. The semi-viral TikTok was the final sign needed to take that leap of faith which is what I am truly proud of. I’m proud that I finally decided to just start.

Over the last year I definitely found myself allowing fear and perfection to get in the way of doing what I love, but I constantly reminded myself that everyone has to start somewhere! Taking that huge step was not easy but so far it has been worth it.

Since starting Your Eventor I have definitely appreciated all of the relationships I have formed with clients and vendors all over the metroplex so far and every event I’m learning more about myself and how to work with a variety of clients.

The last three months have definitely taught me the importance of patience, consistency and perseverance. I know that this is only the beginning and there will be so much more to look forward to.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have only been in the DFW Metroplex for a little over two years now and one of those years I didn’t really have an opportunity to explore much due to COVID.

However, the thrill seeker in me definitely enjoys going to Six Flags. I also really love the Fort Worth Water Gardens and trying new restaurants in Deep Ellum!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my support system. I am so grateful for my friends, family, loved ones and followers for believing in me and encouraging my creativity.

I have so many people around me who are rooting for me and want me to succeed and for that I am forever grateful.

I also want to thank God for giving me the gift to impact others through how I create. I hope that my journey inspires and continues to inspire anyone that’s reading or following.
