We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Hamm and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued the Artistic and creative life after I retired from basketball. I was still creative in basketball and always working on my game so putting the ball down didn’t mean I had to stop. Art and fashion always had my attention growing up. I grew up in Alief on the southwest side of Houston where mostly everybody wore streetwear. To me art is also a stress free environment that I feel free in and unstoppable. A lot of people cope with stress and anxiety in different ways but dressing nice, creating art and being creative helps me be the best version of myself in life. Being a creative person comes with a lot of ups and downs as well but if you can maintain the high & lows in this career things will definitely get better over time. Being a creator I have grown to be more spiritual over the past year and focus more on creating a better life for me and my loved ones. This game will test you but it’s best to make sure you are always happy with yourself and your work. If you are not confident in your work nobody will be confident into purchasing from you or investing into you.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Dreux’ Hamm Is a Luxury streetwear brand here in the DFW area that means high fashion with purpose and meaning. Our goal is to make sure we have the best material to hit the streets each collection. Our material and designs is what stands out and sets us apart. What excites me the most is working with other people or creatives in my business, doing it alone can only take you so far but once you build a team especially a team you love and trust the sky is the limit. Hosting shows is probably my most proud moment in being a designer. I say this because nothing is better than hearing the crowd love your designs. Getting to where I’m at today has not been easy. I have been shut down by many people. But I also have had a lot of opportunities come up in 2023 that have carried over into 2024. Usually when people face challenges they start to point the finger or feel like there ideas are not working. You have to hang in there to get what you work for to be able to see more opportunities come your way. I like to tell people this if you think you love something and want to start making money off it make sure you try it for 3-5 years first before you just give up. Because your life can change instantly. Lessons I learned along the way nobody is coming to save you , consistency is not 100 % everyday sometimes it’s 10%, 25%, 50%, 75%. But as long as you wake up everyday and choose your purpose what you think about most will be your reality. Also your business will not run unless you feed it you have to think about it as your baby you are the only one that will help it grow starting off.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I relocated to the DFW area from Houston in 2021 so I don’t really know many spots but some of my favorite spots to eat out here is “Lo-Lo’s chicken and waffles” and “Fivee Bistró & Bar”. I like to go hangout at “The Garden” and “Texas live” but I don’t really go out much it’s just when I do these are some of my favorite places. My girlfriend has been living here since 2017 according to her deep ellum in Dallas has everything you can think of for tourist to enjoy some fun and good quality food. She would also recommend 7th street in Fort Worth for Friday/Saturday nightlife and Sunday funday. Both places you can just walk up and down the street on both sides because there are tons of options to choose from whether it’s a restaurant, bar or club.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dadrian Ruiz celebrity fashion stylist here in the DFW area who specializes in Men and Women luxury wear. I just recently met with Dadrian and I can’t see how I didn’t decide to look for a stylist much sooner! He takes my business to a whole new level by adding flavor, one of a kind looks to all of my pieces. To be able to give him one item of clothing and see him creative as many looks as possible in many different ways is amazing. Axel Sandoval is my go to Photographer/Videographer here in the DFW area. Axel has helped my business grow so much and has been around filming Dreux’ Hamm content since day one. He specializes in commercial shoots, music videos and he can provide the right venues while bringing his own equipment to bring to life anyone’s creative vision.
