We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew and Julia Stier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew and Julia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Julia: When the pandemic hit, and my brother Andrew and I found ourselves living with our parents, we decided to make the most of it by doing something we had always talked about — creating our own content! We had both been wanting to get into writing and shooting sketch comedy videos, but both had been overwhelmed by the idea of doing it all on our own. So when we found ourselves quarantining together, we thought, PERFECT! We have everything we need — free time, material (I mean come on, we were living at home, these sketches were practically writing themselves), and, most importantly, we had each other. Thus, Adult Children was born!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Julia: To keep ourselves sane – and share some laughter while in lockdown – we created the online sketch comedy channel Adult Children. Under this brand name, we release short, digestible sketches that take a light-hearted look at the troubles of quarantine. We chronicle the funny, frustrating, and factual tribulations that occur when two grown siblings move back home because of a global pandemic. I am really proud to share that some of our videos went beyond our own channel! Our sketch, “Quarantining with Siblings,” was a Top 40 Finalist for the International Quarantine Film Festival, which was so exciting! It gave us the opportunity to connect with some amazing filmmakers from all over the world! Then, the video for our original song, “Quarantine Song,” was selected for the Hollywood Fringe Festival Virtual Cabaret. It’s been so amazing to see some of these sketches take on a life of their own outside of the channel!
“Quarantine Song” was just awarded “Best Quarantine Short Film” at the Gralha International Monthly Film Awards in Curitiba, Brazil!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Julia: I always tell people, if you come to San Antonio, you can’t leave without having a breakfast tacos! My two favorite places to get this staple are Café Vida and Los Tacos Gueros! And of course, the Riverwalk. When it’s all lit up during the holidays, it is truly a breathtaking sight!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Julia: Honestly, a big reason we continued creating videos for Adult Children was because so many people went out of their way to tell us how much they were enjoying them. We are truly so lucky to have such a supportive group of friends and family, and their encouragement really meant a lot to us! Seeing their responses let us know we were doing what we had set out to achieve — make people laugh during a dark, confusing time.
