We had the good fortune of connecting with Andres Gutierrez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andres, what inspires you?
I’m inspired by graphic design illustrations, bold colors, fantasy art, and unique wadrobes. The work of other photographers also pushes me to not only try to improve my own skills, but to think in a more creative way.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets my photography art apart is the bold colors and unique style I try to create. I consider my portraits a mix of digital art with fantasy. It’s a never-ending process of learning something new which I felt was overwhelming. But it helps a lot looking back at older work and seeing how much I have improved. I love creating pieces that feel like they are from another world or time line.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many that have helped me along the way from models, make up artist, friends and other photographers. But local photographer Miguel Gonzalez (magnusdiv) definitely gave me the extra boost I needed to get to the style I shoot now. Before I only shot with natural light but through him I dove into off camera flash. He hasn’t just taught me how to use it but also has connected me with awesome make up artist and models that help my concepts come to life.
