Meet Amber Farris | Clothing Brand Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Farris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
To take care of my son first and foremost. Being a single parent, I wanted to grow a successful business that would take care of my family. Throughout being a parent I have realized my value, my worth and what’s important. I will never let anyone tell me again I am only worth a dollar amount per hour. I was unhappy, underappreciated and underpaid working for someone else. One of the many things that did make me happy and made me feel beautiful is when I dressed up and put on a cute outfit. Clothes made me feel sexy, empowered and confident. So I decided to take my passion for fashion and start my own clothing brand. It’s one of the hardest yet most rewarding decisions I have made in my life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My business caters to the  everyday  woman that  wants to look stylish and sexy on a money conscious budget. I am most proud of being courageous enough to step out on faith and launch my business. Getting my LLC, learning how to do my own makeup for my photoshoots, conducting my photoshoots myself, doing interviews, attending the fashion district as a buyer, building my website, growing my brand, doing marketing and advertisements for my brand, participating in pop up events and much more. Of course it isn’t easy! If it was everyone would be doing it! But it’s rewarding to know when you invest in yourself and you put in the work for something you truly enjoy. You overcome challenges by facing them. Take it one day and one step at a time. I have learned to trust myself, do not seek others for validation and unfortunately you  can’t  depend on other people. You have to do it yourself! I want to inspire and motivate others. I want my brand to be an example that anything is possible!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely go to the Bishop Arts District, Uptown Dallas and one of the newest spots is the AT&T Discovery District.  All of these have great places to eat. Some of my favorites are 303 Bar and Grill, Glorias, Pappadeaux, Haywire, 360 Brunch in Mansfield just to name a few. I like the vibe of grown and sexy- live band, rooftops. The Virgin Hotel is a super nice spot to visit also.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God, first and foremost. Having faith I can do all things through Him. Also, my close friends and family who have supported me. I have met several like minded business women throughout this journey. We encourage each other, share resources and rely on each other during the challenging times.
