We had the good fortune of connecting with Amatullah Shabazz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amatullah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think taking risks in your business is a critical part of elevating yourself with hands on experience. Most risks that I have taken in business have been speared headed by my intuition and with doing so it works out. I have the perfect example for you. During the summer of 2023, our first year in business I needed to secure the food for our summer camp. I literally told my associates that I would secure it with the camp only being a week away due to last minute changes in food arrangements. We were definitely pushing it to the limit. I ended up going to Panera bread walked in, asked to speak with a manager and walked away with sponsorship for our Wealth Climbers STEAM Summer Camp! Had I not took the risk and went for it, I shared our story and mission and was able to provide great food for our youth. Always be willing to take risk when it has a potential positive out come, weigh your opinions and GO FOR IT. Taking risks has opened up many doors, I highly recommend it!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Wealth Climbers is a youth focused organization that teach financial literacy, entrepreneurship and technology thru gamified learning. We offer classes, workshops and tech certification classes for both youth and adults. Our goal is to empower the entire household to be better equipped for a successful future. Wealth Climbers was created from the need to provide a positive and necessary activity for the youth in a safe, fun and learning environment. Starting off was not an easy task, it took a lot of tenacity, networking and learning how to maneuver the education space. My solution was to keep going and stay focused on my goals and mission. Lessons came in many forms some challenging and some rewarding.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day 1- Sunday-
Spend the morning at Pan African Connection doing community events and visiting the book store

Afternoon- lunch at DeVegano followed by strolling thru Bishop Arts

End the evening at home with delicious home cooked meal, making one of my specialties. Veggie lasagna with fresh green beans.

Wind the evening down with some Queen Bess International wine for a sip paint with canvas session with lots of laughter and good music and good conversation.

Day 2-
Monday- Thursday
They can shadow me at our Seed Dropper Academy Microschool, honestly knowing my talented friends, they would be the guest teacher😂.

After wrapping up the school day we would go have drinks at Gloria’s, The Tower Club or the Constellation Room, golf course..

Then head back to my house for another home cooked meal and evening of fun. I love to do crafty, useful, homemade type of things, so I imagine I would either plan it for either an in-house or an outing, based off what classes are available.

One of those days we will hit a networking mixer in the city for sure.

Friday:
Field Trip Fridays
Time to explore the city and
Check out a viral food spot no one has visited, I’m a foodie at heart!

Business mixer hosted by Maji Pure followed by a night full of excitement in Addison.

Saturday:
Brunch at Kitchen and Kocktails.

Followed by at trip to the Reunion Tower to check out the city views and get some one of a kind selfies!

Then some day time Lower Greenville action!

End the evening with a tucked away Speakeasy and comedy. And maybe some bar hopping💃

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes absolutely, I love my team! I want to special shoutout my partner Gregory Williams for being such an amazing person, excellent networking and outstanding visionary. He has played a critical role in connecting Wealth Climbers with key contacts and partnerships. Thank you so much Greg, you the man! Also want to thank my family support system, from my mother to my children. They have all played vital role in support, testing our entrepreneurship and fin-tech games, shopping and helping with classes and workshops! They are the real MVPs. My chi gratitude and love to my family.
