We had the good fortune of connecting with Amari Amore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amari, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think the most important factor behind my success as an artist, is continuing to be authentic and original. Often times we can get caught up and distracted by what’s happening around us and feel as if we should be on the same path that others are on. If you focus on just being yourself and continuing to dream and work hard, eventually the things that are meant for you in this lifetime will make themselves known to you!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a 20 year old Indie Singer/Songwriter based out of the DFW area. I graduated from Booker T. Washington High School For the Performing and Visual Arts in 2018. I am currently pursuing my BA degree in Music at the University of North Texas. I’ve been writing songs and performing for a bit over 6 years now and I wouldn’t change a thing about my journey up to this point. Everything that I have done has led me to be here. The journey isn’t always easy and it isn’t going to be like anyone else’s. I’ve struggled with self-doubt and feeling insecure about my gift for years. I think from 2019 to now, I’ve done so much growing and have learned a lot about myself. I’ve been tirelessly creating new music and sounds that sort of represent this ‘Evolution’ of essentially me and my journey as an artist and person. My album ‘Evolution’ will be released sometime this fall 2021 and I couldn’t be more elated. I’ve released 2 singles thus far and the 3rd and final single ‘Cleanse’ will be officially released July.16! It has already been featured on KXT’s Local Show which was super amazing and I couldn’t be more thankful for their amazing platform for local talent! I also shot an NPR Tiny Desk Contest submission video for the single ‘Cleanse’ which was surreal and humbling to even be able to do! It’s been such a difficult and unprecedented time the past 2 years for everyone, but I honestly wouldn’t change anything about the process of making this record. It was a very special thing and so much time and love went into these tunes and I hope that that will translate to listeners. I want my music to be an escape for people and bring connectivity between us as human beings. It’s really important for me as an artist to spread that sort of message and energy across my audience. I do hope to reach more ears and more hearts and my journey is only just beginning so I can’t wait for what’s next for me. Much love humans.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think I’d definitely show them around Deep Ellum in Dallas. You can always find something exciting and fun to get into down there! There’s food, drinks, live music, art, and you’re in downtown. We’d also have to take a trip to Spiral Diner the best vegan cuisine I’ve ever had!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I do think that I wouldn’t be where I am today if it had not been for the people who pour love and support into me. My family, my mentors, my friends, my band mates, my engineer/producer, and my following have all played such a huge part in my becoming who I am as an artist today. The ‘Evolution’ is only just beginning and I cannot wait for you all to see what’s next !
