Meet Amanda Telthorst | Lactation consultant & holistic bodyworker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Telthorst and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started Nectar and Nurture after walking through my own breastfeeding journey with my daughter, Josephine.
Josephine was born at 34 weeks and spent 15 days in the NICU. Breastfeeding was something I deeply desired, but I was offered no support to get her to the breast.
So I did what many moms do—I figured it out on my own. For seven weeks, I pumped, bottle-fed, and breastfed for every feed. But finally, at 7 weeks old, Josephine was exclusively breastfeeding and we went on to breastfeeding for 2.5 years.
I found craniosacral fascial therapy after a lot of research trying to understand the symptoms she was experiencing. No one in Dallas was offering CFT for infants at the time, so a therapist from Tyler, TX drove in and came to my home. I saw a shift immediately—her latch changed, her body softened, and for the first time, she felt truly at ease in her body.
I signed up for training the next day— and even though I didn’t set out to start a business I knew I had to learn this work—and offer it to other moms.
I saw a need in the community. And after having my own experience with CFT and the diffference it made in my daughters latch, I saw a vision of how I could combine lactation support with fascia bodywork so that moms didn’t have to go to multiple providers just to help thier babies breastfeed better.
I come from a family of entrepreneurs, and the idea of creating something meaningful—something I deeply believed in—felt natural. My thought process was simple: if I could make life better for even one mom going through what I went through, it would be worth it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Nectar and Nurture after walking through my own breastfeeding journey and realizing just how much was missing from the kind of care mothers truly need. What sets my practice apart is the integration of lactation support and Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT)—because feeding challenges are rarely just about the latch or just about the tongue. CFT is a gentle, hands-on therapy that helps babies breastfeed better, move better, breathe better, sleep better, and poop better—by releasing tension and restriction in the fascia, the connective tissue that runs throughout the body—from the tongue to the toes.
My daughter Josephine was born at 34 weeks, and we spent 15 days in the NICU. Breastfeeding was something I deeply desired, but I was offered no real support to get her to the breast.
So I did what so many mothers do—I figured it out on my own. For seven weeks, I pumped, bottle-fed, and breastfed for every single feed. At 7 weeks old, Josephine was exclusively breastfeeding—and we went on to nurse for 2.5 years.
I discovered CFT after doing my own research trying to make sense of the symptoms she was experiencing. At the time, no one in Dallas was offering CFT for infants, so a therapist from Tyler, TX drove in and came to my home. I saw a shift immediately—her latch changed, her body softened, and for the first time, she felt truly at ease.
I signed up for training the next day. I didn’t plan to start a business—but I knew I had to learn this work and share it with other moms.
After experiencing the difference CFT made for our journey, I saw a bigger vision: what if lactation support and bodywork weren’t separate? What if moms didn’t have to piece together care from multiple providers just to help their babies feed better?
Nectar and Nurture was born out of that vision—because I saw the gap in care. I saw moms being passed between providers, receiving surface-level advice, and still feeling confused and alone. I wanted to offer something different: a space where moms could feel safe, seen, and supported.
I’m most proud of the way I’ve built something that lets me be both a mother and a guide for other mothers. At the heart of my work is a deep belief in the power of maternal intuition—and everything I do is about helping women come back to that knowing.
It hasn’t always been easy. Building a business meant stepping into the unknown, trusting the process, and learning to find meaning even in the hard moments. But I’ve learned that the hardest seasons often lead us to the clearest purpose.
What I want the world to know is this: Nectar and Nurture isn’t just a business. It’s a reflection of my story and my heart. It’s about honoring the mother-baby dyad. It’s about empowering mamas to trust their intuition and their babies. And it’s about making sure no mother ever feels alone on this journey—especially when it comes to breastfeeding.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I was still working in the hospital as an RN/lactation consultant and about to fully transition into launching my business full time, I mentored with Michale Chatham for 6 months. During that time, I was introduced to a whole new way of thinking about tongue ties. I learned it’s not just about the tongue—it’s about understanding how the entire body is working, moving, and functioning together to support the baby’s ability to feed and thrive. It’s about seeing the bigger picture, where the tongue is just one piece of a much larger puzzle. That shift in perspective completely changed how I approach care for my own family and the mamas I support. The lessons I learned from Michale continue to influence my work every day.
