We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Finney and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is another word for opportunity. As entrepreneurs, risk is all about betting on ourselves and more often than not we are pleased with the results. We avoid making costly mistakes, and taking frivolous risks. However, if the choice is safe and growth trumps the loss, we will choose risk everything. Business without risk is like a birthday without cake. It just doesn’t seem quite as sweet.
What should our readers know about your business?
We started our residential and commercial solar brokerage to assist homeowners and business owners with finding the best solar option for their needs. We acted as customers first. As a homeowner ourselves, we wanted to feel confident in our energy investment, but through obtaining multiple solar quotes through multiple providers we identified many gaps in the solar industry. We found large discrepancies in the quotes we obtained from one company to the next. We learned the industry better than the salesmen attempting to earn our business and became our own first customer. Our model is different than any other solar company we have come across. We don’t work for one solar company. We work for the customer and partner with multiple national solar providers to find the best prices and top products in the industry. This gives us a huge competitive advantage and ultimately provides the best solar option for our customers. This yields great end results for our customers and we feel confident in knowing our customers are in the best possible solar situation. Solar is the only way to get a financial return on your energy investment. We love showing businesses and homeowners alike their customized solar solution and more important reducing energy costs. Why would you want to rent energy when you can own it? Our slogan says it all…Go Green, Save Green!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love our community and have so many recommendations! The DFW Adventure park in Northlake is great activity for the whole family, then head over and explore downtown Roanoke and eat at Babe’s. The Double Tree Ranch in Highland Village has a great park and splash pad is always a hit with the kids. In Frisco, catch a game at Dr. Pepper stadium, so much fun for the whole family, enjoy bonding time in the Rail District, take stroll to the Limestone Quarry Park. Venture down to Texas Live in Arlington, it is a great place to watch the big game, eat and you will be close to tour Dallas Cowboys or the Rangers stadiums. Walk Main St. in Grapevine and support the local businesses, ride the train, partake in a wine flight while treating the kids to some ice cream. If you are looking to go to downtown Dallas, we enjoy riding the free trolley and making pit stops along the way. The Perot Museum has enjoyment for the whole family with interactive exhibits of science and history. Be sure to check out the Deep Ellum area as well, many breweries and local artisan exhibits. Ft. Worth stockyards is always a hit when we have visitors, but we always like to go to Coyote drive in movie as well, right next to downtown with food trucks and live music. Check out Sea Quest Ft worth as well to interact with the aquarium animals, including swimming with sting rays.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family. My two sons are the reason I work so hard for our business and our environment. My amazing husband, Michael. He has helped to grow our business in more ways than I can count. He is very involved in our community, giving back to other business owners through networking, he is a member of the Justin Rotary, a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Frisco. He is the best advocate for our business and is an amazing father through it all. I don’t know how he gets everything done in a day’s work but I am sure thankful he is on my team.
