We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyssa Azcarate and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alyssa, how does your business help the community?
Teatro Café was created with love and passion. When creating this brand, I was intentful that I wanted it to be true to my Mexican heritage roots and an extension of my childhood cultural upbringing. Coffee has been a passion of mine from a very early age. My grandparents introduced me to coffee. Coffee isn’t just about its delicious flavor or my passion for it; it’s also my way of staying connected to my grandparents, even as I grow older. Growing up along the El Paso border was a spiritual immersion of culture, art, food, and beverage. That is where the cultural side of our brand comes in. The artistic side of the brand comes from my lifelong journey as a theatre artist, singer, and creative. Our social impact is aimed to bring creatives together to create over coffee. Teatro Cafe was not created solely as a business venture—it’s passion poured into every cup. As a mobile operation through the DFW, it’s not your typical coffee spot; it’s a sanctuary of flavors, culture, and community, where every sip is a journey into the human experience.
The name itself, ‘Teatro,’ meaning theatre, reflects my belief that just as theatre tells the story of the human experience, coffee brings people together to share their own stories. We’re not just serving up your daily dose of caffeine; we’re creating a stage where stories unfold, connections are made, and memories are shared. Each drink tells a story—a story of heritage and of celebration of Latinx culture. We’re not just sharing coffee; we’re spreading a message of inclusiveness and diversity to the world. In a world where coffee culture thrives, Teatro Café isn’t just a player; it’s a movement—a testament to the power of passion, community, and a good coffee.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Teatro Cafe is not just a mobile coffee shop; it’s an immersive cultural experience that brings together the rich traditions of Mexican heritage with the universal love of coffee. What sets us apart, is our unique blend of art, storytelling, and community engagement, all centered around the enjoyment of exceptional coffee.
One aspect of our business that we’re particularly proud of is our commitment to cultural education and celebration. We don’t just serve coffee; we share the stories behind it, the traditions that inspired it, and the people who make it possible. Through our mobile coffee experience and online presence, we strive to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Mexican culture while creating meaningful connections within the DFW community.
Getting to where we are today hasn’t been easy. Like any business, we’ve faced our fair share of challenges along the way. From navigating the logistics of starting a mobile coffee venture to overcoming obstacles in sourcing quality ingredients and building a loyal customer base, there have been many hurdles to overcome. However, through perseverance, creativity, and a commitment to our vision, we’ve been able to turn these challenges into opportunities for growth and innovation.
Ultimately, we want the world to know that Teatro Cafe is more than just a coffee brand – we’re a movement. We’re passionate about using coffee as a catalyst for social change, cultural appreciation, and community building. Whether you’re sipping on a latte at one of our pop-up events or following along with us on social media, we invite you to join us in celebrating the beauty of Mexican culture and the power of coffee to bring people together. Together, we can create a more inclusive and connected world, one cup at a time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many inspiring people that have lead me to get here today. I first want to shoutout the city of El Paso, Texas. That is the community that raised me. El Paso is such a beautiful synergistic community filled with culture. I will never forget my roots.
Secondly, my family. They have been alongside supporting me through each of my life endeavors. Thank you to my parents for teaching me to lead with graciousness and always supporting my creative passions. To my brother, thank you for being my creative partner in crime. To my sister, thank you for your bright energy and helping hand. To my grandparents, thank you for being my second parents and contributing to raising me. Thank you to both of my abuela’s for sharing their coffee with me, teaching me spanish, and sharing Mexican cultural traditions with me.
To my wonderful significant other, thank you for believing in me, thank you for seeing my vision and supporting me. I cannot thank you enough. For every single market you’ve done, just to see me smile.
