We had the good fortune of connecting with Alysha Klees and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alysha, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Live Authentically” “Live authentically” to me means being genuine. Be yourself, let go of other people’s judgements, drop the assumed expectations you may have about yourself, and embrace what you are and who you are becoming.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am so excited about the journey I’m on for both the boutique and my art. My art helped me heal from PTSD and is a healthy coping technique I use for my mental health. Which in turn, gave me the ability to think clearer and thus, showing me that I needed to seek further treatment. By doing so, I was in such a better place to manage my money, create a business plan and launch an online boutique.

I have embraced my mental illnesses. They are part of what makes me, me. I have become more sensitive to others’ feelings and learned what a quick kind note to someone can do to their day. I want to end the stigma around mental illness. I want people to feel empowered and understood. I want people to feel like they can be themselves safely. To “live authentically”.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would love to take my friend to Mash’d for lunch or dinner. I would take them to Bottled in Bond for the best whiskey and bourbon pecan pie. We would go to Snooze, an A.M. Eatery in Addison for brunch. Dallas Arboretum for a walk. Grapevine Mills for shopping. For art, we would go check out Pencil On Paper Gallery. We would head over to Duino Coffee in McKinney for their Nutella latte and to see what local artist they’re featuring on the walls. A yoga class with Vaishali, Yoga4RestOfUs. There are so many wonderful people and places all over the DFW area, you really can’t go wrong.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband is, and has always been, my biggest cheerleader in life. He is the steady hand, helps me think in a more logical manner, and helps me believe in myself when I am facing self-doubt.

I was introduced to Christy Wright who wrote the book “Business Boutique” a few years ago and it helped me create a business plan. The book broke the steps down in a digestible way. It’s a great read and really brings clarity to your action plan for your dreams. The SCORE mentor from the SBA also helped hone in on my business plan.

As far as my art journey goes, I am so thankful for my friends and family sharing their honest opinions with me and for Duino Coffee in McKinney, TX giving me my first opportunity to display my art publicly.
