Meet Alondra Loera | Hair specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alondra Loera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alondra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly, As someone who had never owned a business before, taking that step was intimidating & was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. I’ve always been someone who finds comfort in stability, so the idea of leaving behind a steady routine and stepping into the unknown was overwhelming. But deep down, I knew I wasn’t meant to play it safe forever. I asked myself , What if I fail? What if people don’t book me? But I had to start reminding myself, What if it works? What if I’m actually good enough? I surrounded myself with people who motivated me along the way and saw the best in me, even if it meant making mistakes along the way. Which I have lol
Being scared didn’t mean I wasn’t ready it just meant I cared. And honestly, I’m proud I pushed through, because every client, every transformation, every compliment is a reminder that change isn’t something to fear, it’s something to grow through.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business, Uniquely U, came from this personal feeling that I wanted to do things differently. I didn’t want to just be another stylist doing hair, I wanted to create a space where people felt seen, where they felt like themselves, but elevated. Everyone’s hair is different, everyone’s story is different, and I wanted my brand to reflect that. That’s what Uniquely U is all about making you feel like the best version of you. When I first started, I had no business background. I’d never owned anything of my own, and honestly, I was afraid of failing and I didn’t know if people would trust me, if I’d get clients, or if I was “good enough.” But I kept showing up, even on the slow days and the hard days, because I believed in the experience I wanted to offer. Learning how to be patient was one of the many lessons I have learned and continue to do so giving myself grace, and realizing that not everything has to be perfect to be powerful. What I’m most proud of now is the relationships I’ve built, and how my clients feel when they leave my chair. It’s more than just hair it’s confidence, connection, and care.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d definitely take them to all my favorite spots around Fort Worth. We’d hang out at the Stockyards because you just can’t come to Fort Worth and not experience that western charm. I’d take them down Magnolia Street for the cute shops, good coffee, and chill local vibes. For food, we’d absolutely go to Railhead Smokehouse in my opinion, the best BBQ in town. When it comes to drinks, Chimy’s is a must. I always recommend the Chilton it’s my go-to. And for hangouts, anywhere with live music, a patio, and good energy is where we’d end up. I’m all about relaxed, fun spots that just feel like a vibe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my amazing mom, Maribel, and to the friends and family who supported me every step of the way. As an immigrant turned citizen, this journey has been deeply personal. Starting my own business was something I had never done before & came with fear, uncertainty, and a lot of unknowns. But through it all, my mom’s strength and love grounded me. She’s been my biggest inspiration, and her sacrifices are a huge part of why I’m even able to chase my dreams today.
