We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Douglas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alicia, why did you pursue a creative career?
Paris Marie Productions team has pursued a creative career because we believe in storytelling. We also believe in building things that last and art that starts conversations. Being able to create means responsibility and putting it out in the world makes it matter.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Our art is a message. We like to uplift women and minorities. Our company is black owned by 2 sisters, Jessica and Alicia. Our team is diverse. Our stories matter and we have to start telling them.

What sets us apart is that we don’t like to place ourselves in one box. There isn’t a wrong or right way to being an artist.

Starting off Paris Marie Productions was hard at the beginning. It was a learning process and practicing patiences. Any entrepreneur has to remind themselves that this is a marathon and the path ahead will be long, but it’s well worth it if you continue to have faith in your team, ideas, and most importantly yourself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a team we love to hang out and try new restaurants and places with live music. Dallas is truly a melting pot. There are so many great places to adventure into. If we had friends in town we would probably start with taking to them the places below:

Some places we would eat:
Sushi Maku (Addison) Some of the best sushi in Dallas
Ida Claire(Addison) for the amazing Southern Comfort food
Whistle Britches(Dallas) some of the best fried chicken around
Dahila’s on Ross (Dallas)- great atmosphere and drinks

Places to hang out:
Spa Castle- who doesn’t love a place to relax
Soiree Coffee Bar- who doesn’t love a nice coffee bar that also has a killer saxaphone player that comes in on Sunday’s and plays live music.
Deep Ellum
Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
Uptown
Toyota Music Factory
Klyde Warren Park (This park also has food trucks that line up next to it.)
Dallas Art Museum
(All these places have something special to offer)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would like to shout out our family and friends for the major support we have received for them. It’s been almost 4 years in business and we are just getting started!
