We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandria Franklin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandria, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea of A Love Found Event Planning after going through my own wedding in September of 2019. I did so without a formal wedding planner, my wedding was beautiful but it was hard being a bride and the event planner. I wasn’t able to fully enjoy getting ready due to constantly being asked questions and having to give direction. I vowed that day if I could help the next bride or groom I would do my best to do so.
What should our readers know about your business?
I believe what sets me apart is my attention to details. Being an event planner being able to know that one thing that takes your event from an 8 to an 10. Treating each event as if it were my own. I am most excited about branching out and using my creativity to create the events of their dreams. I started with a push from my husband and a friend needing help on her wedding day and I volunteered to assist her as a day of coordinator. I was apprehensive to jump off the ledge at first and it wasn’t easy, I built the confidence the more events that I did. I overcame by just continuing forward and learning from my mistakes. Always have a plan B/C/D with event planning things come up unexpectedly so being able to think quickly on my toes is definitely what I’ve learned. I want the world to know that I am determined and I may just be starting out but I know that my future is bright and bigger events are in my future.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If its a long weekend for dinner I’d recommend Uno Mas, I love the food and the atmosphere. For the activity I would suggest Farmers Market there are so many different little stores including my favorite being PaperGeenius a cute black owned party boutique. When I visit a new city I like to walk around the city to just see what I can find and that’s what I always recommend.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t have the confidence to step out on my own had I not seen Barbara Gee of PaperGeenius and Nicole of Nicole Smedley Events. I have learned so much from them and I am blessed to have them. Barbra has given me an opportunity to plan events and be creative without having to do the leg work, she has shown me how to get a company off the ground. With Nicole she gave me a chance to learn about something I have a passion about, fresh flowers, being able to meet people I have admired from afar especially her.
