We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrienne Aimes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adrienne, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

Over the last 4 years God has had me on a personal journey of “Unraveling” the negative things in my life and turning them into positive things for the Kingdom of God. I have talked about my unraveling frequently on social media over the last 4 years, essentially “branding” that term, A challenging time in my life fell right in line with my unraveling. Thus, Unraveled Essentials was born!!

To be honest, I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to have my own business/platform, for the main purpose of helping others. It was not something I actually jumped to achieve until something tragic happened to me medically and I lost my job as a Registered Nurse. I think the reason I did not pursue it before then is because I was already a nurse, pouring myself into others that way, and I already considered myself successful for my achievements in my career, so I just never “jumped”. I was ignoring one of my purposes in life.

When tragedy struck, it really opened my eyes to how disposable we are to the corporate world, regardless of our achievements or dedication, and if I really wanted to make a lasting impact, experience time freedom and never again be at the will of someone else financially, I had to work for myself and create something lasting and walk in my purpose/calling. My business is not just a business, its been a journey and it has not only just helped me, I have been able to inspire so many others! My vision is so much more than just selling soap!!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Unraveled Essentials is a wellness brand. I currently make handcrafted soaps and other bath and body products. I also have a line of essential oils and a line of safety defense keychains. My vision for Unraveled Essentials is not to be a shop that just sells wellness products to make money, I want to be a wealth of wellness information for others. I envision a place of support, care and concern for the overall wellbeing of other people including physical, mental and spiritual aspects.

As a Registered Nurse, I have spent a lot of time trying to help others correct a health problem after it happens, but the true measure of wellness lies in prevention. God gave us a wealth of knowledge to naturally care for our bodies and our minds. As a member of the Holistic Nurses Association, I am committed to the journey of holism for myself and for others.

The journey has not been easy, in fact, being unraveled is HARD, but it has been a blessing and the biggest thing I have learned is that nobody can stop what God has called you to accomplish!! Keep fighting!! Your wholeness matters!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh man, my favorite place on earth is the beach!!! If I was gonna take a week long trip with my best friend, we would definitely find a beautiful Florida beach.

There is so much nature and healing there!!! I can see God in the intricate things there, like the waves in the ocean and the scent in the air. But, I don’t live near a beach, ha! So I think I would rent a lovely bed and breakfast or Air BNB with a great pool. We could lay out, swim, have amazing snacks, talk about live and love and goals and dreams. We would find inspiration in each other!! My most favorite things to do involve introspection and self growth.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and Foremost, I want to recognize God!! His relentless pursuit of me has continually led me to where I am today and I would never be who I am without Him!! Thank you Jesus!!

Secondly, I want to thank my family! My children, my husband and my parents have been major supporters of every endeavor I have ever taken apart of and I would be lost without them.

Last but not least, I want to thank my friends and my customers and every person who has ever supported me in any way. I do this for you!! Thank you!!!
