We had the good fortune of connecting with Abriel Dixson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Abriel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
During the shutdown phase of the pandemic I wanted a body scrub. My usual store didn’t have what I wanted so I decided I would figure out how to make my own. I researched some things and found more than I expected. I wrote down my vision and now I have a self care brand that makes bath and body products.

What should our readers know about your business?
All of my products are handmade with love and care. I want to make bath time popular again and help people make self care a priority. We are all dealing with something. Just taking time to relax even if it’s a shower can bring so much calmness and relief. I believe this is what sets me apart and I have a science degree so formulating comes natural to me.

I got to where I am today with prayer, hard work and the love and support of my support system. It was not easy. There were times I wanted to give up but someone reminded me that I couldn’t and to keep pressing forward. I’ve learned that it’s okay to take breaks. I’ve learned from experience how important self care is and it comes in different forms. Like just resting is a form of self care, especially for people like me who have a 9-5.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Recently I have discovered more of what downtown Dallas has to offer. I would first take my friend there to XOXO Dining and/or Kitchen & Kocktails. Then I would take them to downtown Fort Worth to see the amazing shops and food places there.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and my extended family have been an amazing support. Whether it’s testing products, bouncing ideas, helping me plan, production, prayer – they are right there to help and support me. I couldn’t have asked for a better family or group of friends.
