Meet Aaron Spears | Financial Services Liaison

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Spears and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aaron, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Before starting Reclaim, I was working 2 jobs to support my household while attempting to finish school online and still have a decent quality of life. I found that what I had created for myself was the total opposite. I was always working, so I was never home to spend time with the family I was providing for. With costs rising more than pay, I was barely keeping up with the financial demands; even working 7 days a week. I had no real control of my schedule, my life happened between work shifts. This was no way to live. I was then struck with the realization that others were having the same struggle. The one thing we ALL want is to reclaim our time and finances. That’s where the name came from. It’s a sore realization that there are others making more money in less time and enjoying a higher quality of life. What was I missing? I was missing a high profit skill in a high profit industry. I came into this opportunity by chance, but I thought to myself that this is my chance to make a chance. If I wanted to be someone different, achieve better results for my life, I had to apply the same effort I was putting forth but in a better and more productive direction. The goal of redirection for my life birthed Reclaim.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I like to describe Reclaim Life as a “life insurance concierge” brand. Ultimately, we sale life insurance and annuities (a retirement product). What I found was that, like many others in sales, even life insurance agents seem to pressure you to sign a policy in the moment. You’re not always given ample time to think it over, or even offered to compare with other products before you sign a contract. Beneath the idea of a concierge company, we seek to provide you with information and options. You then choose, in a low pressure environment, that’s centered around you as the client and not ourselves as agents who want to sell you a product. If I never sold you a thing, the goal of Reclaim Life is to teach you another way to create generational wealth, what financial best practices to pass down, and to inspire a spirit of new beginnings for others.
Thanks to the power of network marketing, Reclaim Life is also able to offer credit repair services and debt management solutions. Do take note of the word “networking”. It required taking the time and putting myself into places where I would meet individuals who could help me expand my offerings.
There was nothing easy about the process. I found that the greatest obstacle was myself. All the things I needed to do to simply get my business started, were things I wasn’t naturally comfortable with. If there ever an excuse to make, I could make it. We allow our own inadequacies and short-comings to stop us from going to good to great to legendary. I wanted to be the hero my family needed so I chose to be like Nike and “just do it”. You won’t believe the tremendous value of just doing it. Courage doesn’t mean you aren’t afraid. Courage is taking action in the face of fear.
We’re often so afraid that our initial efforts won’t be good enough, won’t be polished enough, won’t reach enough people. Guess what? You’re right! They won’t. No one is an instant expert. The more we do a thing, we practice a skill, we develop a talent; the better we get at it. The journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. Every ocean began as one rain drop. Time and consistency will yield results. How much time are you willing to devote? How committed will you be? For how long? These questions will determine the trajectory of your venture. Success in life is not given to the most talented, it’s given to the most determined.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I personally like to embrace the beauty of nature. Obvious for those who know me would be The Dallas World Aquarium and The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Dallas has a thriving night life. I don’t personally go out often, but that means there’s no shortage of new venues to explore. I’m from the South (a Mississippi native) and food is life. There are a number of great soul food restaurants across DFW as well as the shops at Legacy in Plano including great food spots such as North Italia and Fogo de Chao for the meat lovers. I love gelato, whicn can also be found at Legacy West. The Star has been talked about nonstop since the Cowboys training facility moved to Frisco; it’s a must see. I’m also a closet foodie. I’m waiting to share a culinary experience with any near and dear friend. Chef Tiffany Derry as featured on Food Network shows such as Bobby Flay’s Triple Threat and Cutthroat Kitchen owns a restuarant in Plano (Roots Chicken Shak). I’m dying to go there. We would lastly go on hunt for scenic sites and maybe even a few nature trails like Arbor Hills Nature Preserve also in Plano.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I hate to start this off on a low note, but I found myself drawn into life insurance as my primary business offering after 2 close friends of mine passed away without life insurance. I directly experienced the impact of attempting to mourn a loved one while also attempting to crowd-fund a proper send off. Hurt compounds more than interest. These 2 friends were the arms to the catapult. Also, this year, a close family member departed. She had life insurance, but we weren’t educated about the living benefits available to her that would have covered her last year of medical expenses without placing additional financial strain on the family. These events created a demand for education that could benefit my family and the family of others.
Like many others, I would have to thank my mom (Gloria) who has always been a source of love and support. She’s my prayer partner. She keeps me calm when I’m anxious and afraid. My father (Andre) is always a voice of reason. If I call, he challenges me to search within myself for answers before he provides one of his own. He reminds me that everything we need is inside of us. A number of my friends have been my emotional and spiritual support network along this journey. There are so many to name. These include my dear friend Willesha Wilder-Nash who is also a growing independent black business owner. My dear friend Justin F. who is overflowing in the entrepreneurial spirit; he is daring, brave, and adventurous. I would have to also mention Marcos Nascimento, Lane Davis, and Bryce Castleburry whose roles in my life transformed from bosses to brothers by way of Hawaiian Bros Island Grill. Seldom have I experienced a group of individuals who so deeply want to see me succeed.
I would also include the book “Living a Life of Significance” by Joseph Jordan which lit a flame inside of me concerning the life insurance and financial services industry and let me know that I’m headed in the right direction.
