We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Shockey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aaron, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Work. Simple as that. I decided early on when I dived into real estate that I will be the hardest working person in the business. I will be the first to the office and last to leave. I will show more homes, make more phone calls, post more on social media, and work harder than anyone else in the business to get to where I want. It is easy to decide to work for yourself, it sounds so much fun to be able to make your own schedule, in fact it sounds easy but it is the exact opposite. I made a decision and I decided to stick with it and contribute so much of my success just from showing up to the office and working. Early in real estate you can feel lost and not be confident in what you are doing. All of that is drown out by one of my favorite saying, “Get up, Dress up, Show up” you can accomplish so much just by doing those 3 things and learn so much knowledge.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a Residential + Commercial top producing real estate agent in Dallas / Fort Worth. Everyday is not easy and I would not want it to be easy. Everyday comes with big decisions that directly shape deal for my clients and myself and it is important for me to be on top of my game at all times, especially the bigger my career gets and expands. I have learned that hard work is compounding. You do not get in the gym and bench 315 pounds over night. It takes chest day every week for months and years of growth to hit your goals. It is the same with the business world. Just stay the course and get up, dress up, and show up. I want people to know I am here for them and here to handle all of their needs. I work hard and I know the game and I will get it done.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Katy Trail is the best spot to be after work. Take a nice long walk, enjoy the sunshine, be around people. The katy trail is a great place.
Nick and Sams. Great food, great service, amazing environment.
Eatzis is a go to dinner for myself. I do not cook much at my house so Eatzis is my cook and an amazing spot.
Highland Park Village is always a great place to meet with friends for dinner and drinks.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Rogers Healy my broker and mentor and Josh Shockey my twin brother and hero. Both people I turn to and get advice from regularly
