We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaliyah Collins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aaliyah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Since I was at the age of 16, I knew that I wanted to start my own business. I didn’t know what I actually wanted to do, but I knew that I wanted to be an entrepreneur just like my father . During my sophomore year in college , I had so much free time on my hands that I knew that it was time for me to start my own business . I started having conversations with my uncle and my father on where to start and how to start. I knew that I loved to change up my hairstyles, so I decided to learn how to make wigs and turn it into my own business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am most proud of the way I have grown since I’ve started my business . Being a entrepreneur has its downfalls and sometimes it is not easy. However , I always tend to overcome every challenge and obstacles that I face by praying and knowing that hard times don’t last forever, there is always going to be joy when the hard times are over . The lessons that I have learned along the way is that being an entrepreneur will build you as an individual. I’ve learned how to talk to people and how to manage my time. I am excited to see where this business will take me in the next few years. I want to let everyone know that if you have a hidden talent that you were blessed with , use that talent and do what you love to do. Don’t let anyone stop you from chasing your vision, dreams, and goals .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some fun places that I like to go to in Dallas is the Punch Bowl Social, Six flags, and anywhere in Deep Ellum.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First , I have to thank my family and my bestfriends ( Tierney, Chelsee, Kalani, Tyrah, Clarke, Sanieya, PJ, and Kobey) for motivating me to start my own business and doing what I love to do best . I thank my Dad for showing me how to run a business professionally at a very young age . Being able to see and learn the cons and pros of running a business from my Dad, has made me become a very successful entrepreneur. I want to thank my mom for showing me how to multitask and to keep going no matter how hard life gets. I also want to thank my customers and clients for supporting me and helping me grow my business . My support system is so big and I am so thankful for that .
