We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelli Amis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelli, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Genuinely caring about my clients and striving for success rather than money. I am always sure to be as honest and transparent with people as I possibly can. I want their project to turn out amazing and I try to put myself in their shoes and really understand their wants and needs. I never want any surprises to arise. When you genuinely care about each job being a success and you focus on customer service, building good professional relationships comes naturally. Trust is important in business. As a business owner, I find that success comes when people trust you. When you are caring and have proven to be transparent and trustworthy, success is almost inevitable when you work hard.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started Kelli Amis Interiors 4 years ago at age 32. I had always dreamt of being a business owner- and I LOVED interior design- so I decided to take a leap of faith and change careers completely. I am extremely passionate and excited about what I get to do every day for my clients. Designing homes is by far the most fun thing I do every day. When you take your passion and you turn it into your career, success is sure to follow with the right work ethic. I work hard, on weekends, and late nights. I also get to pick up my kids and have a flexible schedule every week. I do a lot and I work hard for people. When something goes wrong, I share that. I expect that there will be things that go sideways- and when they do, all I can do is be honest and create a good plan. I’ve learned that 90% of your success as a business owner is customer service. If you don’t treat people well, why would anyone want to do business with you?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to the Fort Worth Rodeo and for dinner and drinks at The Drover Hotel. I love eating out so I would make plans to eat at all my favorite spots, Trulucks in Southlake, 1845 Taste of Texas in Flower Mound and shopping at Megan’s Boutique then lunch at Sip and Savor in the shops of highland Village.
