We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaedyn Hobbs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaedyn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process I had behind starting my business was providing a genuine and quality service that is worth your time and money and one where my clients trust I have they’re best interests in mind. I’ve worked in multiple multimillion dollar beauty service industries, that experience coupled with my experience while in school to get my license solidified my opinion that the cosmetology industry is heavily influenced by the prioritization of financial gain and product sales rather than customer satisfaction and quality of service.
So, I wanted to open a Salon that specializes in Eyelash Extensions where clients could come and trust that the price, I am charging is fair, and my priority doesn’t lie in selling them products or forcing them into upgrades. We develop a relationship, there is communication and trust involved. I am so very blessed to have each and every client I currently service, and I show that appreciation every day in my work.
That, the love that I have for people in this world, and the passion I have towards positive change in the beauty industry are my driving forces in starting my own business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My Business as a whole is comfortable and inviting, at least I’d like to think so. My brand is built around creating ease in peoples lives. I think there are a lot of individually owned, or family-owned salons that do a very passionate job as well just like I’d say I do. But something that I’d say sets me apart is my personal story. I could say it’s my “Passion for change in the beauty industry” But that would be taking too much credit when there are so many people pushing for the same thing, and I’m happy to be riding that ride along with them. But personally, things were a little challenging getting here.

I was born with a decently significant arm disability that resulted in me having a shorter arm and less fingers. While this has little effect on my amazing and fun-loving personality, it does make having such a hands-on profession a little challenging. I went to cosmetology school originally thinking I would get into hair, you could imagine that would be difficult as well. But I had some amazing and patient instructors, and I came out with a decent amount of confidence in my abilities to do a good job despite my “Disability”. So, when I found a passion for eyelash extensions, I practiced and I practiced some more until I was working hands on and people were loving it, I was loving it. I don’t talk about my arm very much at work, or when talking about my work, but I do think it has helped me carry a lot of love into what I do. Because the most passionate people I have met have had a tough ride to get them to where they are.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit, first thing for sure is a nice relaxing evening after their trip at my place. I’d make them a warm drink, or a “drink, drink” if you know what I mean, then put on a good movie or play a game, get to sleep early. Next morning, we go to the farmers market, if you get there early enough, they have amazing Beignets. I’d buy her a few little bits and bobs, on the way back we can stop and grab some real breakfast. I know an amazing place called seven-mile cafe, I like to take people there because it has both amazing breakfast food and amazing Vegan breakfast food (I’ve been Vegan for four years now). Maybe on the way back to the house we can stop at the huge antique mall near the highway, you could spend hours there just looking at awesome vintage goods or just imagining different life scenarios with your friends. “What if I owned this amazing bright blue vintage couch? What would my life be like?”
If they were up for it later in the evening when it’s not so hot, I also know of this beautiful and pretty private hike that is right next to a little winery. We could go on a short little hike, and then after getting a few glasses of wine maybe a wine flight, I prefer Rose. I know basic, don’t yell at me.
One of my favorite places for dinner that I would not miss a chance on taking them to is a Vegan diner called Spiral, they just have amazing nachos and that is one of my favorites. We’d definitely buy a baked good on the way out.
Then spend the evening gossiping and laughing and talking about our favorite memories, and of course make them a to-go coffee for their trip back home.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would happily give a HUGE shoutout to each and every single one of my clients. I would never have imagined doing anything like this without them and couldn’t continue to feel as amazing as I do about it without their support and love. I am astounded every day by the strength and courage people have, and the love they carry. To just start out as strangers and turn into people I couldn’t imagine not talking to or not sharing this life with. That’s what this should all be about, that’s what everything should be about. The love and trust we have for each other and the strength and support that gives us to follow our dreams and make changes.
