We had the good fortune of connecting with Ben Cohen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ben, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk Are not for everyone. I see a risk as an opportunity!

“If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.”
I have worked with a mortgage company for a few years, and when my wife got pregnant with our second girl, I decided to open my own company and become a mortgage broker.
That means not getting a paycheck anymore. If I have clients, I will make money. No clients, no loans, no money.

The Risk:
1. Wife pregnant with a second baby (wife not working)
2. the year was the middle of 2022 market changed, and rates started to go up (risky market to be on your own)
3. No base salary, no income.
4. I needed to learn how to do it alone with no company help.

Today:
Since I opened the company nine months ago, I am proud to say that my volume is around $15M in loans.
There is a long way for me and my company, and with god and my client’s support, the sky is the limit

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am Mortgage Broker under my own company, HOME OF MORTGAGE.

I worked many years in the mortgage industry under different operators, and things didn’t go smoothly or the way I wanted to for my clients.
I learn the in and out of my industry, and I understand that I need to make things different for my client and for the realtors I am working with.
So I decided to open my own company for me to be able to be the best out there.

Today I process every loan and ensure that each client gets the best service and guides.
I can get the best product with the best rates for my clients.

I am ensuring that every loan will be closed for my realtors. My average time for closing is 14 days!
Keep my realtors updated on our industry and keep them posted throughout the process.

Here is my motto:
“First, I will make it simple, and then I will make it happen.”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Nubo is my favorite restaurant in town! Uptown Dallas is a fun place to go on the weekends.
Go for Dallas Cowboys game and the Dallas Mavericks game for sure.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Here is my Shoutout. No joke, I thank God for always sending blessings my way. I can say that I am unique and doing a fantastic job for my clients, but it all becomes a success with God’s blessing.

The second shoutout is to my clients, my friends that support me, and to my community that spread the word and sends more friends and family my way.
Also for my realtor partners that send clients my way and trust me with their deals, I don’t take it for granted.
