We had the good fortune of connecting with Alana Dzurek and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alana, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want to be remembered for revolutionizing the Electrolysis Industry. For creating technology and a permanent hair removal system which works, and is available around the world. My legacy will be bringing Electrolysis into the “mainstream” making this sector as big as Laser, & waxing.
What should our readers know about your business?
Beverly Hills Hair Free is a premiere permanent hair removal company with a worldwide clientele, what makes us unique is our method of Electrolysis. Traditional Electrolysis uses heat much like laser (Photothermolysis) and only 1 probe at a time to treat a single hair, we utilize 32 probes simultaneously and our method creates a chemical reaction inside the follicle to destroy the stem cells that grow hair. This approach allows us to eliminate hair faster, is safe & effective for all skin & hair types, and most of all virtually pain-free! After being in business for over 28yrs my proudest moment was inventing our brand new technology that will revolutionize my industry, but the challenges are immense! The costs associated with building a new hair removal device are astronomical, and very labor intensive and time consuming, the biggest challenge came over COVID and the shutdowns, while I could not operate my business in LA for almost 15 months, my engineers had to get paid and my loans were due, to add insult to injury we had a difficult time securing semiconductors and parts, and had to redesign the entire project, even more costly. As a single mom and business owner, this was truly the most difficult time in my career. The lessons I learned are: I am way more resilient than I thought, success doesn’t come without major challenges & a major price tag, keep going and never give up! I would tell the world that Beverly Hills Hair Free was created because people want a different approach to permanent hair removal, and Electrolysis needed a revival, as I witnessed a declining industry, with lackluster public appeal, no brand appeal and most people believe Laser replaced Electrolysis. So my mission was to make Electrolysis “relevant” again! We want to appeal to the younger demographic who want to achieve permanent hair removal in approximately 18-24 months.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Funny that you asked that question, my best friend did visit me last month and we had a blast! We began our adventure Thursday evening with dinner & drinks at the Honor Bar in Highland Park Village. After a day of work Friday night we joined some friends at Lovers Seafood in Inwood. Saturday was a great gym day at Equinox in Preston center, followed by some shopping at Brit Rose on Lovers Lane, and dinner at Drakes. Sunday brunch was fabulous at Paradiso in Bishop Arts, and dinner at Nick and Sam’s was amazing! The following week we walked the Katy Trail. had dinner at Barcelona, ate lunch at Muchacho’s and dinner at Il Bracco in Preston Center, we checked out The Mexican for a group dinner with friends, and took a day trip to the Omni in Las Colinas for a much needed pool day! We grabbed drinks at Bistro 31 in Highland Park Village, and played Top Golf with a group of friends. I definitely needed a detox after that week…. I absolutely love exploring Dallas, it’s such a fun city!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Many people have been instrumental in my success! I credit Anne O’Brien, my Electrolysis instructor and mentor for teaching me everything about the Multi-Probe Galvanic system. Another mentor was my good friend, and plastic surgeon Dr. McCoy Moretz in Beverly Hills, who was so kind and gracious, & a wealth of knowledge. Both have since passed, but were very instrumental in my education and growth. My colleague and friend in Australia Noreen Rosler, of Permanence. who I have the pleasure of sharing information with. And my biggest cheerleaders… my two children, who tell me constantly “you got this mom!” But I would be remiss if I didn’t also mention my strong faith in GOD, and continuing my personal growth journey with people like Tony Robbins, Mel Robbins, Jordan Peterson, and many others.
