We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeannette Cieszykowski and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeannette, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
There wasn’t much thought behind it; Time was of the essence and thank goodness for that because I probably would’ve talked myself out of it (again)!
I was let go from my lighting design sales position in April 2020, just 30 days after moving into a new apartment. I was living in new Feng Shui… so was this a coincidence?
Everything in my life leading up to that April had compounded; earned a Master’s in Landscape Architecture, became a Landscape Architect, and transitioned to a sales role in the development world. In my free time for about eight years, I was studying and practicing Feng Shui techniques on myself and my friends. It was a topic I couldn’t get enough of.
The beautiful thing about working with energy and using Feng Shui is you realize there are no coincidences, that everything is happening for you, and so you stress less!
It made no logical sense that as one of the top-performing sales agents, in the shortest amount of time, with top accounts would get let go out of nowhere. I gave myself a day to be disappointed but 24 hours later asked, “Okay but what am I supposed to learn from this because it happened for a reason?”
Previously, in between landscape architecture and sales I had debated starting a Feng Shui business but with student loan debt, limiting beliefs, and excuses I talked myself out of it.
This time I was motivated to not let the fate of my success be in someone else’s hands. There were no excuses, the professional experience was there and the student loan debt was gone. The limiting beliefs were certainly there but like I said luckily I didn’t have time to debate it!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Feng Shui is fun energy work. You may not be ready to dive deep into your family traumas, do the shadow work, or care to read a self-development book. Though you feel like life is stale and you want change, you’re caught in a loop of no progress.
Moving the energy in your space will spice up your life!
It’s my purpose in life to remind people that life is EXCITING, it’s meant to be fun, and you can wake up looking forward to every day.
Together we simply repurpose and reposition items already in your home so that the energy in your life begins to work in your favor. After we do this you begin to feel happier, healthier, and wealthier. Opportunities start flowing your way, you start meeting the right people, and a new energized you starts to show up.
Slowly the life you sort of tolerated transforms into one you treasure.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The beautiful thing about Dallas is that there is a hub for every vibe. My favorite are Greenville/ Knox Henderson/ University Park. Truly you could spend a week exploring this area.
I’d for sure create my own pubcrawl along with my friends walking down Greenville. The Dubliner, Truckyard, and Old Monk are staples with so many other fun stops in between. In that area, Barcelona is a dinner spot must.
I’m all about walkability and soaking up the sun when you can get it at a cool temp. This is why I love Knox and University Park. Most people know about Katy Trail, but if you head deeper into University Park there are some great quaint trails and cool secret tennis courts. These trails are wrapped in lush greenery and trees that you don’t normally get in the more urban spots of Dallas.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Tony Robbins, God, counselors, and my gut instinct!
You poll most people and they’ll have a difficulty of some kind they had to overcome. Often friends and family are not supportive when you want to take a risk on yourself. With good intentions and probably poor delivery, they want you to be safe and happy.
I’m fortunate to have found personal development books, counselors, and good conversations with God early.
These resources helped me to gain clarity about life’s big picture and the power of knowing your purpose.
