We had the good fortune of connecting with Amie Villa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amie, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
This is a great question. When I started this small business I was all over the place. I really didn’t know how I would split my time up. I was seven months pregnant with two toddlers, and in the middle of the pandemic. So starting off I was already being challenged. I am also a flight attendant which can make things difficult at times since I am out of town two-three days a week. I am extremely thankful for my husband and family because without them this would be much harder. I try to be positive though and use my time out of town to work on my website, planning content, and scheduling events for the boutique. While home I try to use one whole day to shoot content and update inventory. I am still very much learning how to best manage my time to have a better work life balance but we are headed in the right direction.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a boutique owner there are definitely times where I may feel like I’m falling behind and not where I am “supposed to be.” I have learned that comparison is the killer of joy. I really am so proud of how far I have come. I am so excited for the future of Bella Villa Boutique and I hope to own a warehouse one day and be able to do this full time. I will continue to learn and overcome any challenges that may come my way. I do believe that all of the difficult stuff have made me a better business owner. My goal is to truly make all women feel beautiful through clothes. I hope to be able to give back to those in need thru my business and I pray that the Lord continues to guide me through my journey.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend visit I would first take them to Standard Service in Heath for some brunch. They have a cute setup and the food is amazing. A visit to the Dallas Arboretum is also a must. It’s beautiful there and so calming. Another fav spot is Cafe Salsera in Deep Ellum, I LOVE dancing and everyone could use a fun night filled with dancing every now and then! Lastly, I’d be sure to visit a local market to support small business owners, there’s usually always amazing food followed by shopping!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I definitely have to shine a light on my husband. He was the first person I told about my dream and he has been my supporter since day one! Also, my mom and sister, they truly are my right hand(s) and keep me going, If you’ve ever been to a popup that we have attended you have most likely seen them! Along with them has been Brianna Gonzales, founder of The Social Chica, through her events I have been able to not only connect with my customers but also gain new customers and network with other intelligent and hard working women business owners. I am extremely blessed for the support that I have received from all of my family and friends and wouldn’t be here without them.
