We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Bowman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always been creative in nature. I find the need to create something that represents me/has a story and depth to it. When starting Vincent Aprons, I knew the name “Vincent,” my fathers name, that I wanted to use for the company’s name. There is passion, depth and remembrance behind each and everything apron sewn. With the hardest part out of the way, a name to represent me, I moved forward towards making my first apron. The first design was made/drawn down when I was on my 12th hour of my shift as a sous in a local restaurant. The rest is history…

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Vincent Aprons is a community-based utilitarian apron brand.

As a brand, and company, I am still in the infant stage of a company. Continuously reinvesting in ways to improve, simplify and elevate those around me. If I am going to grown, I would like to bring those that have supported me along the way.

The aprons you will see online, at markets, and at pop-ups are made by me. From the point of sourcing to the point of selling this is what I take pride in and are most excited about. The effort and will to create a product that represents me and allows others to use it everyday.

KEEP EXPLORING! The best way to overcome obstacles is to find a different approach and perspective. I find this from collaborating and researching other creatives. There is plenty of room for all of us and if we work together rather than against each other everyone can enjoy a piece of the cake….or pie. Whichever you prefer.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If it was my best friend coming into town…well we wouldn’t stay in the Dallas area. We would plan a trip up north to stay remote in a cabin away from people and back into nature to recharge our batteries. There is nothing like nature, a couple 24 packs of beer or what you fancy and to cook over a fire pit for days end.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I could have never done this on my own. My wife for believing in the passion, giving feedback and supporting me through the events. My mother is the backbone that has taught me work ethic and entrepreneurship. She and my grandmother where the one’s to first pass down their singer sewing machines to me to practice on. Next, the chef industry for teaching me to keep my head down, put in the hours, work hard and never loose focus. Without those chefs around I would have never started. For people in particular, my good friend Stephen Moore, for believing in the idea first hand. Paul Reilly, an amazing chef/mentor, in Denver that believed in me. Even allowed me to make his chef aprons for Apple Blossom. Lastly but surely not least Matt Mccallister for giving me the opportunities in his kitchen and also investing in me/allowing me to make the FOH/bartender staff aprons.
