We had the good fortune of connecting with Allie Adamek and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always considered myself to be a self-proclaimed foodie. So with my combined love of photography and my hometown city of Dallas, I really wanted a creative outlet that I could not only play on my strengths, but also support the local restaurant scene. What started as a simple past time has given me countless opportunities to try places all over the metroplex, share my thoughts, as well as help small business owners through promotional & creative avenues. It really has been so rewarding being able to work directly with the Dallas restaurant community. An example is how a simple post on Instagram can bring so much buzz to a local mom-and-pop shop, especially during the last couple of difficult years. Finally it has been amazing seeking out those crave-worthy food items that I can share with everyone. Whether it’s that off the menu item, limited time offering or just the “if you know, you know” moment – it’s always about eating the food you should be eating.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
First and foremost, it’s all about the food. I have always wanted to be a resource whether it’s for that local Dallasite looking for where they should go to dinner tonight, an out-of-towner wanting to know where they should try next, or even a bucket list item to add for your next birthday dinner, girls night or date night out. People eat with their eyes, so my visual content is something I pride myself in. Additionally, doing social media marketing for a living as well as my side hustle has been not only extremely helpful, but always leads the to question of “what’s next?”. From a creative standpoint, I am always looking for new avenues to go in – a great example was my #SupportLocal series I started right when the pandemic hit in March 2020 and made it my personal mission to highlight a local spot every day as restaurants started offering different avenues for to-go options, bulk bundles, special offerings, etc – just anything they could do to keep their doors open during those hard times.
Finally, I have always prided myself to focus on the food, the restaurant and the positivity when it comes to the promotion. Why be negative? Social media especially is one of those spaces where it’s so hard to avoid negativity so I have always valued focusing only on the positive.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is definitely a loaded question – and one I love to get. First things first, you have to focus on where in the city you want to visit as there is so much to see and try! For me, a lot of my time has been spent in Dallas proper so that’s where I can best recommend.

In Dallas, TexMex is a true staple – so that has to be a must. Growing up, MiCocina has been always in my life, so I definitely have to recommend it – but I have my picks of course to order. The classic mambo taxi or double barrel margarita, sunset sauce on the side of anything you order and always the off-the-menu Queso Chorizo served table side. Some other TexMex staples in Dallas proper would include E Bar, Mia’s, Desperado’s and Las Palmas.

Next, patios are a year-round necessity here and they are best enjoyed with the best food & drinks. Some favorites would be anything on Knox, Henderson or Lower Greenville – with Chelsea’s Corner, The Skellig on Henderson, Katy Trail Ice House, Doce Mesas, Jaxon Beer Garden and HG Supply Co. that come top of mind.

It’s also always great to take time to make sure to check out the spacious Klyde Warren Park, AT&T Discovery District, Harwood District and Bishop Arts – which are all walkable for various restaurants & shops to check out while you’re there.

Honestly, I’m always looking for recommendations just as much as the next person so I love to hear from my peers and followers on where I should try next. I have found some of my favorite spots that way and love to share them!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly everyone in my life has been my biggest cheerleaders. My friends and family have been patient with me from the beginning – everything from my free time sometimes being devoted to “foodie dinners” galore to knowing that I will always be taking a picture of that plate before they can dig in. It’s the simple things.
