We had the good fortune of connecting with Tatiana Rubio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tatiana, how do you think about risk?
In my opinion risk taking is a very important part of life. Many people are afraid to take risks and they end up never progressing in life. I have always been a risk taker and I feel that has helped me a lot with the success of my business. From the the beginning I took a risk with the name and theme of my business. I knew that I would receive a lot of backlash because the word “Narco” has a very infamous meaning. However, I knew what I wanted to create and that the theme and all of my products would be authentic and have a meaning to me. Today the risks I have made have helped me get to where I am now with over 160,000 followers on Facebook and a stream of income I never imagined I would have working for myself.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Narco Lashes is an online makeup store. I started Narco Lashes at the end of 2018 with just a name and a dream. In 2019, I launched my first product. For me I believe many factors set me apart from other similar businesses. My business is inspired by one of the most infamous topics/themes in Latin culture today “narco telenovelas and corridos”. You don’t google the word “narco” and find anything positive but I had an idea and I didn’t let fear stop me from my following my passion. Trying to grow my business and be successful was not easy. For me the biggest challenge was to accept that the people I knew would never support me. I learned the hard way that I would never accomplish my dreams if I allowed them to hold me back. I decided to connect with complete strangers and as hard as it was at first the reward was amazing. The most important lessons iv’e learned as a business owner is to always step out of your comfort zone , never work with people you know, never stop networking and to always be humble. I would love for the world to know that dreams do come true and that Narco Lashes is here to stay!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visit town I would take them to Fort Worth. Fort worth has some of the best Mexican restaurants including an authentic Mexican buffet called La Hacienda. Downtown Fort Worth has some pretty cool bars and the stock yards is an amazing place to see. Inside Ridgemar Mall there is a place called SeaQuest and it is a must see for all animal lovers.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout all of the amazing people on my Facebook who have helped me get to where I am. Many of these people I had never met a day in my life but they supported me simply because I had a dream. Without that support I don’t think I would be where I am today. Especially all of the social media influencers and makeup artists who use my products. One specific person I would love to shoutout would be Angelina Perales. She has supported my business from day one and helped me grow so much, I am forever grateful for all that she has taught me and all the support she has given me over the years.
