One of our favorite things to do is to ask the folks we are inspired by what they are inspired by. We’ve shared some of their responses below.

Jessie Ogunmade | Florist

I’m inspired by nature and art. They can be simple examples that are seen everyday, and they can also be truly extraordinary. The goal is to not take either one for granted, that way inspiration is always near. I’ve found a way to combine the things I love with floral design, in this work I’m forever inspired. Read more>>

Chelsea Schnyer | Mobile Bar Owner & Coach

I own a mobile bar, which we roll around and serve clients for their events, such as: weddings, birthdays, graduations, fundraisers, corporate events, etc. Though alcohol is a part of our identity, we’re inspired by the dry community. We acknowledge that there is a large amount of people that don’t drink at events, for personal, medical, religious, historical, family, or other reasons. Traditionally, their options are limited to sodas, juice boxes or water at events, which immediately singles them out to the rest of those in attendance. Read more>>

Kate Shields-Campbell | Indie Dyer

Absolutely any form of media (movies, books, anime, etc.) that evokes an emotional pull. Now that’s not to say that I’m out here hand-dyeing yarn based off of Charlotte’s Web or It’s a Wonderful Life (though an entirely grayscale collection would be a unique challenge). I’m pulling from media such as Avatar: The Last Airbender and the Twilight movies, or the ACOTAR series by Sarah J Maas. I take all of these forms of media and create my own form of fan art, yarn. Vinoj / Voice of Silence | Systems Engineer & Spoken Word/Hip-Hop Artist

My inspiration for my poetry and music comes from everyday life experiences. I really enjoy taking the sights we see and the sounds we hear from the aspects of life we consider “mundane” and flipping them into intricate and poetic stories that relate to everyone. An example of this is when I saw a littered bottle floating in a middle of a pond – I thought of a lost message in that bottle from someone who wanted to say something to someone but held back, and now this message is floating/drowning, stagnant in this water, never reaching its intended destination. Vasiliki Gkarmiri | Designer, Co-founder at Next Door Goddess

My inspiration is threefold. Primarily, it stems from that unique moment when a woman puts on my jewelry and feels so gorgeous, like a goddess. That moment in time- that image in my head of the confident smile of a woman who’s ready to take on the world is what moves me, the reason why I create and the major inspiration behind my designer view: feminine, fierce, fabulous, eclectic, sophisticated with an edge. This is the woman I design for, the woman I’m here to serve and her desire to reflect her vivacious spirit in her style is the main source where my inspiration comes from. The first part of my design process is connected to her. Read more>>

Kevin Alinyo | Human Performance Coach

I’m inspired by my parents more than anything. They’ve showed me the meaning of persistency, faith in your ability combined with an unbelievable work ethic & how it can have a huge impact on the outcome of your life. They moved to Texas from East Africa (Kenya) to start a life in search of opportunity not only for themselves but also their future family to provide resources for my sister currently living in Africa & the sons (my 3 brothers & I) they would have in central texas. Morgan Padgett | Owner & Head Bookkeeper

I could go on and on about this topic…but the one thing that really inspires me and pushed me to open my own firm is the passion, drive, and perseverance people have for starting a business and making it successful. Don’t get me wrong, it’s absolutely terrifying to start a business, be responsible for others by providing a job, and going out there and successfully signing new clients. However, at the end of the day knowing others have done it, failed at it, but got back up and then crushed their goals is so inspirational. Read more>>

Chalae Lindsey Perry | Jewelry brand owner

I am inspired by a lot of retro and edgy things when it comes to fashion and jewelry. I love bright colors and cool shapes/patterns. I really love 80s, 90s and 00s retro to be exact. That whole aesthetic is just a vibe that I love so much! I also love the color black with pops of color which give things a retro vibe with an edge to merge the two. Read more>>

Aliayah Russ | Mental health advocate

I’m Inspired by my daughter she just recently turned one and at times when I’m feeling disconnected with wanting to even roll out of bed to do this thing called life mixed with responsibilities pertaining to my business she wakes up before me she lets me rest then before 12 she will come jump on me and get me to wake up I take that as her little way of saying “let’s get this started momma , you can do this wake up” And looking at her being able to not want for anything , waking up with a smile on her face and a full belly whenever she gets hungry it keeps me going.
