We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendra Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendra, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
I believe that my job is to provide my very best. Something that I would want to enjoy over and over again. Something that invokes feelings of familiarity, warmth, and care. Everything is made from scratch with the very best ingredients. Each recipe is tested again and again to ensure the most delicious outcome. This takes time, patience, and a lot of hard work. But it’s all worth it when it comes to the finished product. I’ve always shown my love for others through food and it is my hope that each customer feels that love in every bite.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Little Bakeshop is a place where you can find the highest quality breads, pastries, and baked goods. Each item we offer is made with care and completely from scratch. After researching the best ingredients, testing recipes, and trying different flavor combinations, we serve items that are full of remarkable flavor. We are very proud of the quality and consistency of our products. I have learned so much through this process. Each day is a new opportunity to see what is working and what isn’t. You have to be flexible, but at the same time, stay true to who I am and what I want for our business.
It’s been difficult being a one-person operation for the most part. There have been many late nights and early mornings. But I have a goal and I know that each day I’m closer to seeing it realized. I’ve learned that working with dough and developing flavor is what I truly enjoy doing. That is what we will be focusing on as we head into 2022. My goal is for others to walk away feeling better than when they came.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Asian Times Square is one of our favorite places to go on the weekend. I love trying new foods, looking for new ingredients to try, and walking around the market.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to thank my incredibly supportive husband. Whether it’s doing the dishes, entertaining our children, or his constant encouragement, I could not be where I am today without him.
