We had the good fortune of connecting with Austin Chatfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Austin, how do you think about risk?
Nothing in this life is going to be given to you, you got to be willing to throw yourself out there sometimes. There’s always going to be some risk associated with trying to make a name for yourself, but you have to get out of your comfort zone. You are going to hear ‘no’ so many times in your life, but through diligent work, you will finally earn that ‘yes’. The longer you wait and the more you work, the sweeter the reward will be.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I write and perform country music. Growing up around country music (even music in general), I’ve learned it has a much greater effect than being fun to listen to. Songs and artists get tied to memories in your life, lines can trigger emotions you haven’t felt in years, and music is seen as the language of the world. Ever since I found out I had a God-given gift, I have found my calling in life: to be that person for other people. I’ve gotten to where I am today by working on my craft, relationships, and mental/physical ability. This hasn’t been an easy road, and it’s far from over. I always flow with the mantra of: “Live like no one else now, so you can live like no one else later”. That determination has kept me going all these years and will push me throughout my life. I recently received my admission into the University of Belmont; there I will further my studies and exposure to the world. This is not the last you will be hearing of me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Frisco is an amazing town that has come so far recently. The area is soon to become the unofficial sports capital of the US. Featuring the headquarters of America’s team the Dallas Cowboys, the pro soccer hall of fame, the iconic Dr. Pepper ballpark, and a soon-to-be championship PGA course. There are several spots to enjoy nightlife and amazing food, places like Legacy West, Grandscape, Stonebriar, the memories will fill your hearts, just be sure you don’t empty your pockets.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a huge shoutout to Chloee Rae for thinking of me for this, my amazing teachers WT Greer, Christian Chavarria, Carli Decanini, Zakk Manzella, Linda Septien, Remington Rafael, and everyone else that has helped me on my journey. Shoutout to my friends at Melody of hope, the Josie Music Awards, and my fellow artists Eliza Pryor, Grant Knoche, Amanda Riley, Griffin Tucker, and so many more I would need an infinite sheet to list.
