We had the good fortune of connecting with Leigh Ervin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leigh, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I would say the most important factor behind my success and the success of the brand is my customers. I have so many returning customers who not only continue using Card My Yard Frisco but are always referring me. Word of mouth is so important and knowing that I do a good job for them, makes me think I made the right decision in opening my franchise. I would like to also include that customer service is crucial these days. I understand you can not make everyone happy but I try to. I listen to what my customers want and try to personalize each sign for them. Another factor would be communication. There is no such thing as over communicating. If you look at my google / FB reviews, communication is commonly used. I communicate from the time I receive their order until the day of the set up. I continue communicating with them after as well. I send Birthday reminder emails and always include my new and current customers in any flash sale I have. Our corporate office is also a HUGE part of the success of the brand. They are amazing and market Card My Yard in such an amazing way all over the US. So to sum it up, Customer, Customer Service, Corporate office and Communication are key to a successful business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would say what sets me apart from others is that I think outside the box and try to go about my business in a different way. I like to make every customer feel special and if there is a specific graphic they are wanting, I try my hardest to get it. These times are tough and anything to make them smile, is rewarding.

I am more excited about hearing stories and spreading joy around.

I learn lessons everyday from so many people. Not everything that I am told is something I would do but I listen and try to do the best for me. I was overwhelmed at first but learned to sit back and rethink how to build my business. I am still building it but it is definitely growing in the right direction.

Card My Yard Frisco was the best thing that I personally invested in and has brought nothing but happiness to me. I love this job. Just getting text and emails from my customers about the sign makes me smile.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to eat (probably down town or somewhere new). Somewhere with a good atmosphere. We would definitely catch up and spend quality time together. Maybe the Arboretum. We would definitely eat and drink our way around the area.
