We had the good fortune of connecting with Mo’Fit by Monnique and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monnique, every day, we hear about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea of starting my own fitness business, Mo’Fit by Monnique stemmed from having a background of athleticism, being conscientious of my health, disciplined in my exercise regime and having a successful career as an educator/administrator. My thought was to integrate my career skills with my passion. My desire was to impact lives through the education of adapting healthy lifestyles.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am super busy with the day-to-day task of being a mother, principal and building my brand. Time management is my biggest struggle. As a professional in another field and a mother, I do find that it is not easy to dedicate as much time as I should to building my brand. The biggest lesson I’ve learned along this brand building journey is to prioritize my weekly schedule using an interactive calendar so that I am dedicating the necessary time to completing tasks and spending time with my daughter and family.
I am a mobile & online fitness trainer that has been training others for 3 years now. My mobile training platform is unique because I offer in-person training at any location that is available for my client(s) (park, home, work, etc.). I travel with the necessary equipment (dumbbells, kettlebells, jump rope, step platform, etc.) to give my client(s) a full workout experience at their convenience in their chosen environment. My online training platform offers virtual workouts in the comfort of the client’s home. I want to be known as the trainer who totally gets the “whole you”. The client/trainer relationship is a collaboration/partnership. I train side by side with my client(s). I converse with my clients about their life goals as well as their fitness goals. We have mental meetings as well as workouts. I aspire to influence, inspire and impel ALL to be the best versions of themselves through education and training. Mo’Fit by Monnique is invigorating!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since I think Dallas is the best city ever, there will be quite a few spots to visit. If my bestie wanted to reserve his/her own lodging, I would suggest: Thompson Hotel, Adolphus Hotel, Virgin Hotel, Canvas Hotel or Lorenzo Hotel. Those hotels have some of the best views and vibes/aura. Nowadays, I’m such a homebody or super busy multitasking, so our hang outs would have to be all inclusive. Some places on my list to visit and/or revisit are: RH – Restoration Hardware (Happy Hour), Ebb & Flow (Brunch), Bistro 31 Dallas (Brunch), Town Hearth (dinner), Monarch (lunch/dinner) or Musume (dinner), Bow Lounge (hangout), Farmer’s Market (hangout), Midnight Rambler (late night), The Tipsy Alchemist or Bourbon & Banter (late night), the whole entering the code to enter is a vibe!
