We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriana Amaya and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adriana, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Balancing work life and life itself can be very challenging, but feasible. I have balanced my life by setting out my priorities and having a daily schedule. When you live with a schedule it becomes a habit to always get things done and not leave for tomorrow what can be done today.
A true balance is needed because as much as you love your career, job, business, etc. Your family and health are also important. It has surprised me that very successful business people have not been as successful in their personal lives. I want to be careful because I want to be successful in life not just a business, a career, or a job. I desire to retire with a happy heart full of joy and meaning. This can only be accomplished with a balanced life. Part of the balance is to see all your duties with happiness and tackling each one of them knowing that you are closer to your goal.
As a wife, mother, worker, student (finishing my MPA) that balance has to be in place to accomplish each goal and still have sanity.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The journey has not been easy, but it sure has been fun. Being part of the radio world since 2008 has truly marked my life and connected me with our beautiful DFW community, I wouldn’t change it for anything. I currently host Tu Comunidad con Adriana airing every Saturday at 12:30 pm on 540am La Poderosa and 1360am La Voz. In 2021, I decided to start my own Spanish Christian Online Radio named Cielo HD (which you can find online at www.cielohd.com) you can also find the app on the app store by searching Cielo HD. I am super proud of achieving such a dream I carried since I was a small child. I have learned to continue to dream no matter how many difficulties I face.
I had the first broadcast on Sunday, February 14, 2021, when the big snowstorm started to hit Texas, but I was not going to allow anything to overshadow an amazing mission I have with Cielo HD.
I want the world to know that it is possible to achieve those dreams and that with God all things are possible.
Cielo HD started with the goal of fulfilling every heart, mind, and soul with faith, inspiration, and motivation.
I hope to see Cielo HD grow into different markets of the United States, knowing that more than ever we need uplifting material in our lives.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Let’s start with breakfast at San Martin Panaderia in Uptown Dallas, love the smell of coffee and fresh bread from Guatemala, then a walk in the Klyde Warren Park and riding the Trolley. For lunch, El Ranchito in Oak Cliff is a must, ordering anything from the menu will bring a smile to anyone. Then shopping around all the local stores in Jefferson Blvd. will make a remarkable memory.
Finishing the day in Arlington at the Globe Life Field to watch the Rangers play and enjoying the beautiful view that it has to offer. The DFW is beautiful and combines so many cultures that blend just right.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout first of all to my husband Julio Amaya that has been the biggest supporter in my journey. I am forever grateful to the Terry Foundation for opening the door towards higher education in my life, I will always thank God for allowing me to be part of this wonderful organization.
