We had the good fortune of connecting with Elisha Floyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elisha, why did you pursue a creative career?
I decided it was the right time to pursue an artistic career focusing on making myself a small platform in alternative fashion when I started to realize I was enjoying my side hobbies and passions more then the other career I was currently working on. It really inspired me seeing others putting their focus onto their passions and working hard to build themselves a voice to talk about what they loved, it really made me want to do the same about my passions as well knowing anything can be possible!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The way I see “art” in what I do, is by treating yourself as the canvas and how you decide to paint yourself for the day is your own version of ever changing art. Maybe today the outfit and makeup will be eccentric & loud- soft and feminine- or maybe gothic and dark- all are different ways to use clothes and items around you to present yourself as the art, in what you wear and how you present yourself. However makes you the most confident in yourself. That’s what really drew me into wanting to make a platform to talk about a niche subculture of alternative fashion worn in Japan as its really starting to gain a large following here in America as well. I wanted to share with people in my small voice and my actions that it’s alright if people think you’re too over the top or strange, life is too short not to express yourself however makes you feel the happy and yourself.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Call me a good ol’ tourist but if I get to bring an out of town friend to my hometown of San Antonio we always take a nice stroll on the river walk, really nothing beats an excuse to see the classic pride of the city, especially during the holidays, Christmas on the river walk is a magical experience. For food, I’m definitely a Las Palapas fan at heart, I think everyone out of town should enjoy a San Antonio born & raised business!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d really have to say a person who really inspired me to take your passion and start putting your all into it would be Lovely Lor. I hadn’t seen someone put such dedication and love into showing their passion for alternative fashion and making themselves a platform through it until I started watching her YouTube, it was really inspiring for me to see how much she’s grown through hard work and it really moved me to know even I could work to build my own platform as long as I put in my best effort in.
