We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebekah Hardick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rebekah, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
By being myself. Being relatable. All the best things about my brand came to me organically and at the right time. You can’t force anything and you can’t compare your shit to what anyone else is doing and where they are at in their journey. This year has been extremely tough since all my festivals/shows were canceled, but over the last 2 years I built a really loyal following on social media and they truly want me to succeed. That’s what kept me afloat. (Oh, and Tiger King)
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well, funny shit always happens to me and I’ve always been pretty witty…so the combination of the two are what put me where I am today. (Also the part where I was tired of working for assholes) I mean I definitely like making money, but my ultimate goal with this business has always been to make people laugh. It’s one of my favorite things to do. I think the funniest things in life are relatable and I’ve always been known to admit things that most people wouldn’t….so now I just turn my stories into hats. If everyone could sit at my booth for a day and just see the reactions my hats get we would all be a lot happier. Guaranteed.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If we’re talking about DFW as a whole….my top spots would definitely be the Dallas Arboretum, Fred’s Texas Cafe, Magnolia Motor Lounge, a few fishing holes, Famous In Oregon (My retail spot in Prosper, TX with Tanner The Planter), and then we’d hit up The Gin and Silo Park (also in Prosper) after we drove up to Lavender Ridge Farms in Gainesville. Then, we’d go back to Fort Worth to drink Uncle Bekah’s Sour Bush at Panther Island Brewery (Spring 2021) and one last night cap out at Rollertown Beerworks in Celina.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many individual people I really owe a lot of my success to, but most definitely the Red Dirt & Texas Music Scene. More specifically though, Mile 0 Fest in Key West, FL. They really helped put me on the map and since then I feel so lucky to still be a part of this scene. The musicians, the people, and the festival creators. I knew festivals were a big part of my businesses success, but this year has brought me an entirely new appreciation for them and the people involved. Also, I have to give a nudge to my friend Summer George and Lola’s Rummage Sale in Fort Worth for helping me get started. Oh, and my man…he’s simply the best.
