We had the good fortune of connecting with Ronnie Sunker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ronnie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of Sunker Creative Studio is the relationship we build with each client. From the first contact from a potential client we put our heart and soul into our interactions and share pieces of our family with them, welcoming them into ours from day one. There is no generic responses to inquiries, we take the time to talk to our clients and find out what they really want and make sure they completely understand every part of our business and our processes. We know we’re not the absolute best photographers in the world, but we try to make the overall experience an enjoyable and memorable one to build relationships and keep them for years to come.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
These days everybody carries around a camera in their pocket and wants to say they’re a photographer. As someone that went to school to learn photography techniques and has put many years of practice into refining my skills, I feel that I truly am a photographer and artist. I don’t follow what’s trendy, not because I can’t do it, but because it’s not me. My style is unique from the others in the business around me and that helps set me apart. When you don’t follow the trend of the day, your portfolio can be more timeless and last through the years. I’ve learned over the years to stick to what I do best, and the people still come for what I do best. You may not win every customer over, but you never will. Learning to let some clients move on is just part of the business, you will have your core group of followers, and others that will come and go searching for the next trend. Our business is focused on the long-term, the way we treat our clients and welcome them into our family, and our style of artwork is meant to last over time. It is more important to us to offer an exceptional service and offer a quality result so that our clients keep coming back year after year for all of their photography needs.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in DFW now for over 20 years, there are 3 main places we like to spend time and take visitors. Downtown Denton has grown more unique over the years and has added many options for family and adult nights out. Downtown Fort Worth and the Stockyards never disappoint for some Texas culture. And Deep Ellum has come back around as a great place to hang out with plenty of unique bars, restaurants and live music venues. Really there’s a ton of great places. We frequent all 3, just depending on what we have planned fkd the night!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We couldn’t be where we are today with the help of family and friends. From the basic need for someone to watch our children every time we have a photoshoot, to some friends who helped get us started and have promoted us before we were standing on our own. It has taken a big family effort to get us here, and we still rely on those same friends and family to continue with our business even now that we’re successful.
